Fucking hell.

Quote:November 03, 2004 - Kameo, we hardly knew ya. Rare's upcoming platformer, originally scheduled for a January 2005 release, has been pushed back indefinitely. Today on Rare's Website, the company announced it was delaying the release of Kameo: Elements of Power to make both minor and major changes to the title.

Here's the complete message from Rare:

Here's one you didn't see coming! After a lot of thought and discussion, Rare and Microsoft Game Studios have decided to push back the launch of Kameo: Elements of Power in order to incorporate several changes and new features (some minor, some not so minor).

We realise this is frustrating in the short term to all those of you avidly following the game's progress and itching to bust some Troll heads, and we can only apologise for keeping you in suspense, but rest assured that every last one of these new developments is designed to enhance and expand the overall experience. We want this to be the best game possible, so like any delays we may have instigated in the past (surely not) we have every confidence that this one will ultimately work out for the best. Stay tuned for further updates.

No future release date has been disclosed. Kameo could ship next summer, next holiday, or even in 2006. We'll have more on Kameo in the far future.

*sigh*

"Five games in two years" my ass. We'll be lucky to get two Rare X-Box games period!
Nintendo must be laughing their asses off right now.

"Haha, 300 mill!!"
Ahahahaha, that image is awesome. :D

Damn... how long has this game been in development?? 4 years? Longer? Luckily, not being an X-Box owner, I couldn't care less.
It was first announced in 2001 or something.
Rare's dead, that's all there is to it. Kameo looks like it'll be delayed to the Xbox 2, same with PD0, Grabbed by the Ghoulies was mediocre, and Conkers is a remake of a game most of us have already played 3 years ago. It's sad to see Rare fall so far.

Awesome image, btw. :D
Kameo looked great though! And Conker... I forgot about that. It's a remake of a game that sold around 10,000 copies, so there are plenty of people that haven't played it. Plus it has an awesome-looking multiplayer and some of the best graphics this generation.
I saw a recent preview of the furry kind, and it seems like it's more than a remake at this point... but maybe I was wrong...

I dunno, anyway, Grabbed wasn't very good at all, combined with Star Fox Adventures it kinda shows what a rushed incomplete Rare game is like. Yes, I know SFA wasn't "rushed", but if they weren't sold, you just know they were going to delay it AGAIN so they could actually FINISH the game. Honestly, at this point I CHERISH Rare's delays. A delay may mean you get a game a year or two later, or more, but a bad rushed game is with you FOREVER, so GO AHEAD AND DELAY IT. I LEARNED my lesson Rare!

Now then, with the rushed or incomplete games as mediocre as they ended up, I don't mind the delays, and I think MS learned very well that they should actually go ahead and allow them due to the consequences of NOT allowing all these awesome things they wanted to add to be put in. I mean, as good as Kameo may or may not be if released on time, wouldn't you want the BETTER version even at the expense of waiting another year or so? Now then, that said, hopefully Kameo, a game that's been given the good grace of MORE than ample time for completion, will be a game that turns Rare around, as far as 3D games go (the GBA Banjo game is enough to tell me Rare can still make great games when given enough time, it's just that they are about the slowest company on Earth, or they are just AWEFUL at projecting completion times, considering we wouldn't really have a problem if they didn't announce a release date anyway :D.

So, after that lovely GBA game, I have enough faith in Rare to give Kameo, a game that really looks great, a chance. If in fact Kameo, after Rare was given all this time to complete it, ends up horrible, well, I guess we could then safely pronounce them dead as far as 3D (2D would be another story). If Kameo rocks, we can safely say Nintendo screwed up :D.

One thing's for sure, before Perfect Dark 0 is released on XBox 2 (heh), I am certain they will announce Master Chief, the creatively innert hero from the Halo series, will be a playable bonus cameo character in multiplayer. I HAVE SPOKEN!
There's a difference between delaying for a year to complete a game and delaying for YEARS for no apparent reason.
Haha, yet again DJ has no idea what we're talking about since she can't see my posts. Rofl
LOL!!111!1!1
Yeah, this is making Nintendo's choice looking better and better and better. What has Rare released? Let's see.

-Two GBA games that were almost finished before they were bought
-One new X-Box game.

... uh ... well... that's it...

What have they not released?

-one other GBA game they were supposedly mostly finished with several years ago
-three X-Box games, all which keep getting delayed.

Yeah, I think that Nintendo might just have made a good choice... :)

Sure, Rare could come out with some fantastic stuff. But at this rate... is it really worth it, from Nintendo's standpoint?
I understand that converting games from the GC to the Xbox takes some time, but this much?
Well MS did mainly buy them for XB2 support, so I guess it ain't so bad...
Yes it is!

They bought them for X-Box 2 support? Or is that what they said when they realized how long Rare would take to make games... :)
I'd say it's the latter.
No they pretty much bought them with the XB2 in mind, not the XB. And the whole "five games and two years" nonsense was some bullshit an MS rep came up with. In Rare's latest scribes entry they talk about how baffled they were when they heard that. Lol

I'd be willing to bet you a hundred bucks that a decision to move Kameo to the XB2 was made several months ago, and these "minor and major changes" are bringing it to the XB2. So I don't expect to see it until late 2006 at the very earliest. :(
