In a world full of sitcoms, reality tv, and cop dramas Lost is like a breath of fresh air. At first glance you might think "I bunch of people trapped on a deserted island. Oh boy, it's Survivor 10 only this times it's scripted. Boring.", but Lost is a bit more than that.

One of the main draws of Lost is that although it has about 40 characters each one is unique, having their own personality, background, and reaction to the events that are unfolding around them. Another high point of the series is the abundance of strange occurances that happen in nearly every episode. I don't want to give too much away, but one of the mysteries is a gigantic "something" that has killed at least one person and generally crashes around in the woods making lots of noise. That's not the only thing, though, but you should watch it yourself to see what else happens.

The first episode is mostly setting up each of the characters and doesn't really go into much detail about any of them, but later episodes spend quite a bit of time focusing on developing the characters and showing their backgrounds.

Lost is a great new series, probably one of the best in years. If you haven't seen any of the episodes yet, my advice is don't start watching the show now because you'll have no idea what's going on. You should be able to find the episodes you missed for download somewhere and if you can't you might want to wait until it comes out on DVD.
You need to see Arrested Development. Now.

Lost sounds cool, and it stars some good Korean actors, but I think I'm going to wait for the inevitable dvd release since I already missed the first three or so episodes.

I keep forgetting to watch it because it comes on when I'm at church.

Yeah, that's probably the best thing to do since starting now would spoil a lot of stuff for you.

Lost also has the actor that played one of the hobbits in LotR.
Yeah, I know.

You should really rent or buy the first season of AD. Like right now. Every minute you're not watching Arrested Development is wasted life!!
I know!! I almost got season one of it today, but the were other things that I had to save my money for. I think I'll probably add it to my Christmas list.
That's too far away! Seriously man, you need to see it now! To give you an idea of how awesome the show is, I think season one is the single best season of any comedy show I have ever seen. That includes any single season of The Simpsons, Futurama, Family Guy, and even Aqua Teen and Space Ghost! Doesn't that sound insane coming from me???!! Seriously, it packs in more hilarious jokes per show than anything I've ever seen. And it's crazy re-watchable! I've seen one particular episode three times in the past week.

Now that I've hyped it to death, watch it. :D
I watched the first two episodes of Lost, it seemed cheesy and predictable (Oh, I wonder if the pilot of the plane will die if he sticks his whole body out of the window after that huge roar). I don't know if it has turned itself around, but the first impression it gave me didn't exactly stun me.

buckey_lasek

i guess i'm not missing much by not watching tv anymore.
What a completely unexpected impression of the series. *hits EdenMaster* You go to your room and think about what you said!

I can't really understand why you don't like it, since to me it's one of the best new shows in a while and it's been getting huge ratings [but then so do a lot of reality tv shows], but if you dislike it I don't suppose anything I say will change your mind.
I'm just saying it really didn't do anything for me for the first few episodes I watched. If it doesn't have a hook to keep me interested, then I'm not going to keep watching. Simple.
All I can say is that from the first episode I was hooked and couldn't wait to see the next episode. *shrugs*
You're kidding me.

The plane crashed on a desert island. It's Gilligans Island with a bigger cast. The plot has been done to death.

*is excited at the prospect of a debate not involving OB1 or ABF*
I'd say it's quite a bit more than that. Way more. Especially if you want to take into consideration the many theories that have been running rampant across the internet since the show began airing. Some of them even seem plausible.

But, anyway, one of things that really drew me to the series was that it was something different. It wasn't the same old junk that we've been forced to sit through for the past few years, like reality tv. Ugh. It's got a cast that works, it's got good writing, and there's enough odd happenings to keep you wondering. And on top of that I didn't see the skipper anywhere!!

Haha, I'll stay out of it then!
Yes, you will! Because you stink like the cheese that is left in the sun!
...

I miss cheese.
...

...what?
I'm allergic to dairy now... :(
So...has anyone seen the Lost besides myself and EdenMaster? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Well, whatever. Lost has just keeps getting better after every new episode. It's hard to say just why exactly that is, but the story keeps taking unexpected twists, we see more of the survivors past lives, and every episode reveals some mystery of the island while creating two more.
You need to see season one of Arrested Development. Don't watch season two until then!
OKAY!! I've heard you every single time that you've said that and for the record I haven't forgotten about the show at all! I'd get it now, but I don't have the money, which is why I put it on my Christmas list! OKAY?!
That's not good enough for me!
Well, it should be. You've got to set lower standards if don't want to be let down all the time.
You're going to become a great father. :p
:D

GR: So what did you make on your report card, son?

GR's son: I made 4 C's and a D.

GR: Well, I'm sure you'll make a great janitor.
Haha, indeed.
I only saw two episodes of Lost, but it is indeed good.
Well then, you should see more of it!
I probably will.
Which episodes have you seen? The latest ones or some of the first ones?
It was a couple weeks ago, and they were early in the season I'm pretty sure.
Lost looks cool. I haven't watched it, but JJ Abrams is involved, so it probably rocks.

I always imagined how cool it would be if they made a new M:I movie and it would be good like the first one. Kinda like Alias. And who do they hire as director for M:I3? Mr. Abrams. Creator of Alias. *Does happy dance*

Yeah, I still like Alias. Bet you never coulda guessed it.
Alias is good...
I just found out that Paul Dini (of Batman the Animated Series and Superman fame) writes for the show, so it has to be good. Looking forward to the dvd set.
When two shows are both good and are both by the same guy (J.J. Abrams), I'd ascribe it mostly to that guy... :)

What does that have to do with "Lost"?
Its a clue!
No it isn't!
Yes it is!

He said so ------------------------------> :goron:
He also said that dogs can't look up!
