Quote:In `Tornado Alley', you take control of one of the most powerful forces that Mother Nature can throw at us, a Tornado, and guide it to do as much damage as possible, without running out of wind power.

To keep your twister alive you'll need to follow the contours of the landscape, watching for thermals and building up the power of your cyclone with the right balance of warm and cold air. Cars and trailers can even be picked up to give ammunition to the vortex, to be churned around inside before being spat out with huge destructive force.

There are no other games like this, and hence there are no comparisons to be made. Unfortunately there was no movie released for this game. We do have some artwork of the game though!

I think developers are running out of good ideas for games...

*smiley with the expression connating "riigggght"*

I miss that smiley... so many places to apply it, too. I guess this one'll also do.

Erm

Yeah... all I can say is, wow... well, at least they're trying something different. They're just forgetting the part where the FUN comes it.
This sounds like it might actually be fun. I'd love to be a tornado, destroying homes and killing people.
It sounds almost like Blast Corps to me. But in a different sort of way. :D
Or Thornado.
Thornado? I thought that was a more normal action game...

This game could be good. Or it could be bad... it really can go either way, and we won't see which one it is for a while, I expect. Let's just hope it ends up good... it certainly is a unique and interesting premise, that's for sure.
Well you could control the wind and stuff or something like that in Thornado.

Uhh...I never heard anything like that about Thornado...Erm
You had tornado-like super powers. I remember ign talking about the awesome technology behind it.
I don't remember hearing that either... interesting. Too bad the game was cancelled.
Too bad we can't see the trailor that IGN saw, just to see what it was like. Sounded interesting as hell. I'm disappointed of its cancellation: I'd rather see that than a new Star Wars.
Sounds just as bad as a Mcdonald's Sim for PS2 in Japan
How could being a Tornado not be fun? It could be like Blastcorp, but with even more destruction.
Yeah... Except that its Blast Corps, OB1. :) One of the best games on the N64, IMO... especially for its early release date, it ended up really, really good...

I wonder why Thornado was cancelled. Did Lucasarts want Factor 5 to make another Star Wars game instead, because that would sell better?
*In Obi-Wan's voice from AotC when Obi is talking to Anakin right before they sense that Padme is in danger... this is really long, isn't it?*

Possibly.

Most likely, yeah.

And that was a typo!! A typo, damnit! I spent many an hour back in the day arguing with my friends about the correct pronunciation of Blast Corps. They thought that it was pronounced like "corpse" but I told them "no no you fools, it's like core".
Yeah, its Core... why 'ps' is pronounced 'e' I have no idea, but it is...

Typo, yeah right... two in the same word (missing space and the s)? Doubtful... :)

I want to see what Factor 5 is doing... they have made a whole series of really good games, so my expectations for them are very high...
I remember a game called Thornado which is in fact a REALLY old PC game. If a new one is coming out with the same name, COPYRIGHT VIOLATION! It was a Sierra action game where you played as a giant robot that transformed into a jet and shot lasers. It was fun but HARD.
Funny... I read that Thornado was originally carrying the name "Turrican", as a sequel to the sidescroller series, but had to change it to "Thornado" for other copyright reasons.
DJ, I think that that Sierra game you are thinking of is either the ancient game Thexder or the mid '90s sequel Thexder 2... name sound familiar?

Also, yes, I do remember hearing it was basically a sequel to Turrican (remember, they made the Turrican games), but with a new name because of legal reasons.

Two in the same word? What the hell does that mean?
Two spelling mistakes: no space between words and the missing 's' at the end... I thought it was pretty clear...

Oh, and that smily was supposed to show that it really doesnt matter much, as I hope you gathered...
I repeated LL's typo. Beotch.
Yeah that's the game I'm thinking of. Thanks ABF!
Thought so... its the only Sierra sidescroller I know of with transforming robots... :) Remember, I read InterAction! Cool

I already linked it in the Syberia 2 thread, but why not again.

Great... now I'm sad over the horrible death of one of the best game developers and publishers there was again...

Poor Sierra... it was killed in February 1999 and the corpse has been rotting farther and farther away ever since...

For Sierra.

Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad
And for the morons in Sierra management who killed it.
