One of the things I never understood was why some guns were banned and some were weren't, even though they are almost exactly the same.
There is no reason to own an assault rifle. The reasons people have for owning guns right now (hunting, personal protection) do not require assault rifles. Unless of course you need to kill 20 deer at the same time.
GR, I'm no gun nut, but if you have EVER played an FPS that uses real world weapons, you should EASILY know the diff between different guns! The fact that one can fire 1000 shots in a second with force enough to shred most body armor makes it MUCH different than a shot by shot tiny little gun that can't break glass (derringers, those things are weak, POWERFUL weak).
An assault rifle has only one purpose, war. There is no reason anyone should be allowed to own one, for the same reason people shouldn't be owning plutonium. Hunting, self defense, sure, but yeesh, talk about your overkill... literally...

That's not what I'm talking about at all. What I'm talking about is this law banned some guns and didn't affect others, even though some were exactly the same. Such as one gun was banned, but another that was exactly the same wasn't banned because it didn't have a flash-supressor or something small like that. Other than that, though the two guns were almost identicle. Look I'm all for banning high-powered guns, nobody needs a gun that powerful for hunting deer or protecting their house, but there's needs to be a law that bans ALL high-powered guns not just some.
Yeah, the ban wasn't the best and had it's share of loopholes, but why in the hell wasn't it renewed? You could always add onto the ban later. This doesn't look very good for our leadership in Congress.
I haven't heard ANYONE from EITHER side saying anything about it. And they should be.
Kerry spoke out against it just the other day. I've heard a lot of Democrats speaking against the lapsing of the ban.
This kind of weaponary calls for vilgilante justice , The cops are gonna be pissing their pants knowing some people could blast them away if they wanted too,The assualt rifle thing is just people feeding into their fears and angers, Which is why you shouldnt have it. Anyone who pulls a gun and goes shooting mad has been killed by police forces most of the time, Some jerk off in Toronto got a gun pistol wiped his wife in a mall ran away knowing the cops and mall sercurity arrived! takes a hostage on the street 20 minutes later they try to negotiate , The Swat team takes aim from all vantage points blows his brains on too the side walk and the hostage goes free unharmed ,Nobody was killed or seriously injured besides the jack ass. Were did this guy get his gun? In detroit a year ago and had taken full advantage of a still unsecured bordercrossing.The way you have it in the states who needs to go to the mafia! Dealing with the mafia is dangerous if they give you a assualt rifle as a gift they want to make sure you wont rat on them if you do they will terminate you plus if you can afford the assualt and they give it as a gift its because they expect your obeidience,So really the only folks having this stuff is organized crime or some schmuck who can pay them 30 gran off the street, The average psychopath cant afford that if he was a theif the cops would probaily nab him before that since he would be on the radar.Because its ilegal assault rifles are at a minimum even if the gang has one or two its expensive some go for 100K the 30K range is conciderd cheap for a assault rifle bullets dont come easy either, If the guy like I said gets it free I doubt the mob wants him to use it freely to much attention from law enforcement radar.Swat can handel any heavy weapons out there leave it to the police or even army for this.

We should focus as a society to teach that these weapons are evil stealing is evil and killing is evil.
Legalizing Assualt rifles makes them cheaper and will force ilegal salesmen to lower the price and increase availibility.Right now assault rifles are to complicated and more trouble then their worth for the average criminal organization.
Make a new law prohibiting all weapons above a hand pistol and hunting rifle.

Nick If you ever played any FPS you would know no amount of armament is enough to ensure survival,You wont be walking around with a assault rifle in hand its too big hide the cops might shoot at that, Like I have stated assault rifles are such expensive things some more rutheless gangters might crawl around you and kill you to claim it.Even if you had a gun and you also had 100k with you they might just risk it.
That's where the FPS analogy fails actually... Someone with a big gun would pose a huge obstacle to all except the guy with the sniper rifle perched 100 meters away... Also, in an FPS, you can take a hit. In the real world, every bullet is an instant kill, or near enough.
FPS are games it wouldnt be fun if it was realistic were one bullet is near death, But even FPS if your swarmed you could have better arms but it wont be a garantee even in the generous game world much less the real one.
