Haha, and I wonder if ABF would want to meet up with me? And maybe some of you other east-coasters could stop by if it's not too long of a drive. We could have a mini TC ruinion.
But where? Maine's a good sized state... :)
Eliot.
Take lots of pictures.
Hmm... *looks it up* Right near the New Hampshire border? If I was at home that'd still be over an hour from home (I know home is half an hour from Portland, but I'm not sure exactly how long it takes to get from Portland to Kittery... 45 minuites maybe?)... school is about two hours north of home... eh whatever, it's quite a ways off.

Other people... hmm, I doubt it. Weltall is down in Virginia, after all... the only other people relatively nearby are probably Darunia and those friends of his in Massachusetts.
Man, how I'd love to meet Darunia in person.
Yes, I know, wouldn't we all?
I live in Philadelphia... which is a ways off from Maine... so I guess I won't be coming. :(
But seriously, you guys should meet up and have a boxing match or something, and then post the video on TC.
Man I'd love to do that.
I live in NW PA. If I were so inclined, I could make a road trip and come and see you guys but...

I'm not so inclined ;)
Well fuck you! :p
If I wasn't over 3000km away from anything in Maine, then I still wouldn't be inclined to visit any of you.
I'd probably come see you guys if I were in a 10-minute or so walking distance. And I were excruciatingly bored.

And even then, I'd probably have to flip a coin or something to decide.
Maine's only about 1500 miles from where I live which means it'll take roughly 24 hours of non-stop driving to get there, so allowing for 2 days of driving I can probably leave right after school on Friday and get back on Monday just before school starts again...
Hey Fittisize... you hate Asian movies but you are aware of the fact that Resevoir Dogs was based off of a number of Hong Kong flicks, right?

Just wonderin', since you have that avatar.
I only said I hate Asian movies to make a scene.

I know that Quentin Tarantino borrows a lot from Asian movies, in particular Kill Bill, and also that the plot and climax of Reservoir Dogs is based nearly entirely from some Asian movie that I'm not too sure of the name. Those two (I guess three) movies are among my all-time favourites, despite anything that I've said to denounce Asian films or influence. I'm a big fan of most genres of movies. I'm really looking forward to seeing the movie Hero, and if more Asian movies were brought to Canada the same way that Hero is, that is, wide-spread in major theatres and not on DVDs that cost a fortune and are only availiable in a limited amount of stores (if there even are any in Alberta), then I'm sure my interest would increase. I don't like anime, however, and I think from me saying that a long time ago created a snowball effect which led to me saying that I hate all Asian films. This has apparently offended you in some shape or form if you're still bringing it up, if only in small doses, so I'm using this post to set the record straight.
Nah I wasn't offended, I just chalkeded it up to ignorance. DJ was the same way, saying that all martial arts movies are crap based off of a few cut and dubbed HK movies that she saw. Then she sees Hero and proclaims how amazing it is, and how "THAT is how action movies should be done!", even though that IS how action movies have been done, for several decades in fact. She was just prejudiced to them (and, perhaps, still is). Hopefully now she will realize her error and open her eyes to the world of Asian cinema. I would recommend some great movies to her if she ever asked. But somehow I doubt that's going to happen.

Oh and the two movies that mainly inspired Reservoir Dogs (I say mainly because there are dozens of HK flicks that inspired the movie) are A Better Tomorrow II and City on Fire, both of them movies starring the magnificent (when he's in HK) Chow Yun-Fat. But only see them if you can get a hold of the uncut, subbed versions. Another movie I'd suggest you see is The Killer, but again only if it's uncut and subbed. I have a dvd burner and could copy a bunch of these movies for you if you'd like, just as long as you pay for shipping and the price of the dvd+rs (which is about 35 cents each). I mean it.
Really...

Perhaps.
You've seen Jackie Brown, right? Remember that part in the beginning when Sam Jackson is talking about .45s? He mentioned The Killer, which is the movie I suggested you watch above. Possibly the best action movie ever made.
I've seen and own Jackie Brown (gotta love that rat-tail on Jackson). Anways if I decide I want to buy copies of some of these movies which are otherwise unattainable, how would I go about sending you the two dollars or however much it would cost?

Wow, what a coincidence...I have! Do I get some sort of consolation prize? Perhaps adminship?

Well first I gotta see how much it would cost to send a pretty small envelope to Canada or wherever you live. But paypal would work, if you have it.

Yeah, we should take that under consideration...

Nope, I don't.
The greatest asian...no greatest action movie of all time is Hard Boiled! *30 minute gun battle ensues*
I'm Alabama, the land of cotton and rednecks who think that the south should've won the Civil War.

Yeah, I don't think I'll be attending, sadly.
I live in Oklahoma, the land of...umm...well we do have Indian casinos!
Indian Casinos? Cool! I'll have to head over there sometime... now what happened to that Trail of Tears?

...you think the Indians' tears have dried up over the past century and three quarters? (Or however long it's been.)
UltraMarioMan Wrote:The greatest asian...no greatest action movie of all time is Hard Boiled! *30 minute gun battle ensues*

Hard Boiled is from the guy that made The Killer. :) Hard Boiled does have overall more and better action than The Killer, but The Killer's combination of innovative action, a good story, and more emotional weight gives it the edge over Hard Boiled as the overall best action movie of all time.

And by "action movie" that excludes the martial arts genre. Action is guns, explosions, etc.

Wellll.... can you get a paypal account?
First of all, what's paypal?
You've never heard of paypal before? It's what people use to buy stuff on ebay. Basically it's just an easy way to safely send money through the internet. You set up an account using your bank account information and then send money to someone else's paypal account (or even just their email address ) by withdrawing a specified amount of money from your bank account. Sounds complicated but it's actually very simple.
Guess what, I got my PayPal account set up. Still want to send me some flicks?
That took long enough!

Yeah sure, give me your address and I'll send some stuff. I'll give you the postage amount after I find out what it is.
Alrighty...check your PM
There's nothing there.
Patience....yeesh.
You told me to check my PM when you hadn't sent it yet??
Why haven't you gone to Maine yet?

Um...
Erm
Maybe he DID and didn't TELL us!
