So am I the only one thinking "Messiah"?

... well it's a worst case scenario anyway...
Messiah could have been a great game, and this little developer has Nintendo to guide them. It doesn't look great so far, but I have high hopes for it.
You're a thing that can possess the bad guys. That's Messiah... but that was a good developer that made a mediocre game while this seems to be a mediocre developer getting its chance to maybe make a good one...
The company's track record doesn't fill me with much hope, but with Nintendo keeping a close eye on them I think it could turn out to be a great game. Just look at MP, Retro had done nothing before then and was having all kinds of trouble then Nintendo stepped in and everything turned out just great. So, we'll just have to see.
Retro, though, had some good talent found it... this doesn't have anything like that except Nintendo itsself...
N-Scape could have some hidden talent somewhere in it, but I still think that having Nintendo on scene will help it out a lot.
It better, or this game WILL be another Messiah...
n-Space's track record doesn't bother me. At first I was thinking why the hell would Nintendo buy a company that just made Mary Kate & Ashley games, but then I realized most videogame developers have to start out by making crappy licensed games for publishers if they don't have much money. Nintendo must have seen that they have some talented people so they decided it would be worthwhile to help them out. I'm not excited about Geist yet, but I wasn't excited about Pikmin either and I ended up loving that game.
Pikmin... but that was Miyamoto and anyway it ended up with some definite issues...
Derek is right. Just because a developer makes a bunch of crappy licensed games doesn't mean that they're talentless. You can have all of the talent in the world but still make a crappy game if you don't have good management and a decent publisher. N-Space has Nintendo to guide them, so I expect big things from them. Did Nintendo buy them out, BTW? If Geist is good they better. You can never have two many Nintendo-owned US studios.

And yes ABF, I played Messiah so I know that its premise is similar to Geist's. But Shiny hasn't exactly been the greatest developer every since they stopped making 16-bit games.
I can't remember if Nintendo bought them out all the way, but I know they did buy at least a huge chunk of N-Space.
You're right, post-16 bit Shiny has had only a few unmitigated successes (such as MDK, which is a great game)... but still more was expected from them... in this case as we've said it's the other way around though, with an unproven team instead of one that slipped. Let's hope that Nintendo's purchase of this company was because they saw something the rest of us didn't from their talent, because that track record does not inspire confidence. The game still definitely sounds interesting, but I want to see more... the fact that Nintendo owns them should help a lot though because they always are a big help to their second parties.

Like Left Field. I'll be interested to see how they do without Nintendo... I bet it won't be as good (as Excitebike 64 was). http://www.left.com/
Geist's last E3 showing was pretty mediocre, but I'd be very surprised if it doesn't look great at this year's E3.
