Sounds like a good idea.
We need to decide how to organize it then... there should obviously be sections for GBA and GC, but what about the others? One for each platform, or none for others, or a general 'other'? And categories... which genres...

Best Game, Action, Platformer, Adventure/"Adventure", FPS, Strategy, Sports, Racing, etc...
Penny Arcade does a great job of this. Basically, they just give their opinions and claim them to be absolutely correct, as parody of big name game sites which do, well let's face it, the EXACT SAME THING but with more fanfare.
Indeed.

And last year's...

And uh... I don't think they finished it.
Wow, I'm really surprised with Gamespot's GOTY awards this year, as I agree with them much more than I do with IGN this time around. They gave Wind Waker the best action-adventure award, VF4 Evolution the best fighting game award (Sorry SC2 fans, but nothing can touch VF4), and Panzer Orta the best shooter award. Very nice, Gamespot. Now if only they had given F-Zero GX the best racing game award...
I moved the stuff to the dumpster.
Thanks for not moving my response to that post of yours that you left...
What?
Yeah, I didn't think that you were really paying attention to my posts.

Quote:Gamespot often has quality awards... I certainly don't always agree with them but I can generally see why they'd choose the games they do. It doesn't always seem that way with IGN...

Like in '98 they said Grim Fandango was GOTY. Now of course I'd give it to Starcraft, but GF is a brilliant game and certainly better than most everyone else's choice, which was Half-Life...
I couldn't split that post.
So you made me do your work for you... great.
Here we go again...
Don't worry, that's what the dumpster's for! I won't ruin any threads here with ABF's provocations!
Rockin Roll racing got an award as best remake for the GBA.
But it was just a straight port...
Of a very good game.
Definitely not the best GBA port this year. Not even close.
So what is?
Do you even have to ask? Mario 3, of course. Don't tell me you think that Rock & Roll Racing can compare to Mario 3...

But as for actual remakes and not just ports, then Sword of Mana definitely takes the crown.
Hmm, Mario 3, yes, I'd agree there...

And remakes are quite different than ports, for sure. Anyway, did SoM have any strong competition in that category?

Oh yeah, and SoM is a great game, and very fun, and has all that additional stuff, but in some ways I prefer the original... chalk it up to nostalgia, but there is one legitimate point -- SoM holds your hand and makes it very hard to get lost or confused about where you need to go (except in the airship, which was pretty confusing), while FFA made it a lot less clear and was much more mazelike.
Sure there were other remakes... like uh... Double Dragon Advance and um... sivindinsda...
Double Dragon Advance doesn't quite compare... ;)
No, especially since it wasn't a very good remake.
