Crap on a crap cracker. Ah well, at least it's still coming.

From The Dojo:

Quote:Sega AM2 recently held a press conference announcing new details on their upcoming games including the Virtua Fighter Quest title headed to GameCube... and Playstation 2. That's right, along with the much anticipated unveiling of the title Sega AM2 has has announced that it will no longer be exclusive to GameCube as it will also be headed to the PS2, and it will also now go by the name "Virtua Fighter: Cyber Generation."

Stay tuned for more coverage... (jp)

I'm just crossing my fingers that it won't use the VF Kids style. PLEASE let it be regular VF characters, Sega!! Pretty-please?
Quote:PLEASE let it be regular VF characters, Sega!!

It isn't. I've seen pics.

And here they are!

Edit: Stupid N-Philes...

Just go here.
Everything but this comment has me super-excited about the game:

"Sega said it would go for a younger audience"

Ah crap. If that means a dumb-downed fighting system then I'm going to shoot someone.
I think it does...
That sucks.
Uh, you were expecting something else? Given how all along Sega has been saying that this game would be for younger audiences, I'd fully expect more cartoonish graphics and simpler action... and the graphics are indeed more cartoonish. They look nice, though... we'll see how the gameplay turns out (good or not...).
I know lots of kids that play VF4, so they're not all dumb.
Not all kids are dumb, but enough are that a smart company wouldn't aim younger and keep the game as complex as before.
Could you please rephrase that?
How about this then: Lots of kids are stupid. The fact that a few aren't doesn't change the fact that a lot are... and a smart company realizes that...
But there are more older VF fans than young ones.
So maybe this kiddie version is a way to expand the audience of VF players then?
Seems so, yes... for all the kiddies who own PS2's and Cubes.
It's a stupid move. They should be trying to get the VF fans to buy the game as well as a new audience, but from the new stuff that I've read it doesn't sound too appealing. First rule of marketing*: don't lose your existing fan base!

*well okay... I made that up, but it sounds good.... right?
Uhh, OB1, you DO know that if it was a true "hardcore" VF game it would be on PS2 only and MAYBE X-Box, not the "kiddy" gamecube, right? So stop complaining! :)
I'm a huge VF fan but I own a GC!
I like RPGs and I own a Gamecube!!
Well Sega "knows" that people like you are an insignificant number of people and the Cube is just for the kiddies, of course!
*sigh*

I know...
Not very VF-like at all.
No, it looks like a beat-em-up/platformer... but if you forget it's a VF game it looks okay.
I'm so dissapointed... after all this time, after all this waiting, this is what we get.
I wouldn't say that it looks like a bad game... but it sure doesn't look like something that is anywhere near as good (or even in the same genre) as VF4... oh well, it well might be fun. Sega clearly just think that more adult games won't sell on the Cube. :(
I was hoping to see some kinda Shenmue-ish, which was originally going to be a Virtua Fighter RPG. Then they announced that it was going to be "kiddie" so I lowered my expectations but still thought that it could be good. Something like VF Kids meets Shenmue. But this? This is about as VF-ish as Pokemon.
True... the VF name is clearly just there for sales power...
It brings a tear to my eye.
At least it looks like a decent game.
Meh...
