I'VE BEEN PLAYING XENOGEARS! YOUR NAME IS NO LONGER A MYSTERY TO ME!!!
...

*thinks about it*

....

*gasp!*

Weltall is from Xenogears!! Ryan loves Xenogears, so that's why he chose that name!!! I finally got it!!
*looks right*

*looks left*

I've known for years :D I've known him longer than he's been Weltall. When I first met him, we only knew of him as "The Webmaster." Lol
Now all we need to know is what Edenmaster means.
Quote:Now all we need to know is what Edenmaster means.

Probably French for "Touches self at night" or "Smells like feet" not sure my French is awful. (I'm joking Edenmaster I'M JOKING)
You're playing Xenogears, heh? Very good. I just finished another run of it myself. Where in it are you?

Welcome back, by the way.

Lets see I just finished fighting a boss fight on top of that elevator that takes you up Babel Tower. Argh can't remember his name his female partner kinda resembles Faye from Cowboy Bebop.
*Looks at Weltall's sig*
Canada has a military? Eek Can world domination be at hand? *Runs out to buy a "Hail Canada" sign to ensure his place in the new Candian world order*

It's from his favorite game, Outpost 2...or was it Outpost 1?

Quote:Canada has a military? Can world domination be at hand?

Canadian soldier #1: We have come take over your puny country, eh!

Canadian soldier #2: But we only 'ave four soldiers in our entire army!

Canadian soldier #1: Well...we can at least take over Detroit, right? Eh?

Canadian soldier 3: Um...how about we start with one of the smaller towns first? You know work our way up, eh?

Canadian soldier #1: That's just suicidal enough to work! Go job, eh!

Ramsus and Miang.

And that won't be the last of them :)

Great I've barely beaten them the last two times... ;)

Still need the sign since my small town has a large French population. So they'll be the first to surrender...;)

Mimes are scary.
Xenogears... sounds good. The soundtrack is incredible (I downloaded it... :) ), and games with good stories are good... but I don't know, the battles sound like maybe more than I could take.
Xenogears is a fun game. I've got about 10-15 hours into and I'd be farther, but I got stuck at this one battle.
Do you need to tread the evil of the level mill?
The battles are very fun. On foot you have the combos, and in the Gear you dish out huge amounts of woop-ass. They're FAR more interesting than the old FF system.

The soundtrack IS incredible, it's my favorite ever. Get Creid, the arranged version, also.

As far as levelling up, it's not really as necessary as learning the deathblows is. And in Gears, your level is meaningless, as Gear attributes are all determined by the parts you buy for it.

If the battle you're stuck in is a foot battle, I advise you to try using the Combo ability. You will giggle at how much hurt it causes. Of course, you have to build it up over several rounds, but against the bosses with lots of HP it's more than worth it.

Also, even once you learn Deathblows, never use them except when you need to, because every combination that doesn't result in a deathblow makes you learn new ones.

God I love Xenogears.

I'm damned curious to know which boss you're stuck at...
I have the soundtrack ripped from the game (PSF format)... I had the MP3 OST also, but its identical to the music from the actual game, and the PSF is 15 megs while the MP3s were 150. :)

Well, I had to keep the MP3s of the songs with voice, since ripping from games for some reason doesn't seem to work with voice (streamed) songs... the four MP3s of streamed songs are actually bigger than the 46 other songs from the game (22 megs vs. 13). :D

Oh, I have the Xenosaga soundtrack too... not nearly as good.

And as for Xenogears... if the battles are as often as reviews say, they better be fun...

Yeah, this is why I don't download many PSX games. Two 650mb CDs... I have twelve PSX games (and seven Sega CD games)zipped on my harddrive that I can't play because I don't have the space to unzip them or a burner to get them out of there... the only large PSX game I've got unzipped is Legend of Mana.

(sorry OB1.. listing them. :) )

The only problem is that PSX emulation isn't that good... it works, but it doesn't always look pretty or run at a good framerate on my computer. Oh well, that's the price of free.

I haven't gotten a new download for either of those systems in several months, though. I should start on Xenogears... it'll take a while. Weeks, I'm sure, between glacial downloads and people leaving.
It's when you're trying to escape from Nortune and you have to fight about five gears in a row. It's right after you have the whole deal with the monster down in the sewer that killed some people.
I got stuck in Chrono Trigger on the second form of Blade or Slash or whatever he calls himself in Magus' Castle and gave up on the game... I think I need to go back, heal, get items, and level up some more but doing all those fights over is not a pleasant prospect.
I can say, having played this myself a good long time, Xenogears ROCKS! That is all.

Oh, and I remember Weltall first showing up and me being the only one who had any idea what that name meant :D.
Well it's a Nintendo forum... :)

Hmm... that's actually a pretty easy fight. Did you get all the Gear upgrades in the shop right next to the save point? 5100 HP, top engine, the works?

Did you make it far enough in that gauntlet to get Rico? I found once he joins you, you really can't lose. Also remember to equip the Frame HP 30 on Weltall, and that Stier has a Frame HP 50 already equipped. You'll find those under "Special Options" in battle.

I'm a bit perplexed, because that string of bosses was MUCH harder the last time you had to face them... and Redrum was really nasty.
I found out what the problem was. I forgot to buy any of the upgrades, just assumed that I had on a previous occasion. Whoops. :o

I'm sure it is, after you've beaten the game 73 times like you have :).

Hahahaha, perhaps. I've found that you CAN make this battle impossible. When you have Rico in the Kislev sewers, you can use his Gear's Frame HP. Using it too many times will suck his fuel dry, and you'll never have an opportunity to restore it before that series of boss battles, rendering Stier completely useless and making Weltall the only combatant... and Weltall can't do it alone, as Stier is a lot stronger.

However, that aside, there are battles that are FAR harder than the five Geblers and Dominia.

I'll give you a hint to save you a shitload of frustration: Save every Mica and Ground item you come across (you'll get a bunch of Mica in the next dungeon btw), because when you fight Ramsus and Miang next time, you'll need them desperately. I didn't know that, and I was stuck there for a long time.
Fuel is the reason I never equip anything above a Frame HP 10. Suppose I'll need better eventually. And upgrading is EXPENSIVE. Eek Had over 100,000G just before Babel down to 10,000G left after upgrades. Are their any items that restore fuel? Even if its a ten hour side quest it would be worth it. Tho I seem to be lost in Babel tower, good for leveling bad for advancing in the story. Finding the repair gear was a Godsend tho. :) After I get done with this can I return to Kisrev to hunt Hob Gobs in the sewers? One of Ellys multihit fire attacks results in 4 Hob Steaks. Worth mucho money. Tho I wonder if I could get back to the countryside near Lohan, Hob Gobs are pretty common there.

There aren't items that restore fuel, but there are a few Gear parts that make your Charger more effective. I forgot what most of them were because I never used them, but the best is the Z-Charger, which is available near the end, it makes your charger refuel for 500 instead of 30.

I honestly never found fuel shortage to be a huge problem through the game. The trick to conservation is to remember that when you buy engines, often you'll have a choice between one with more output and one with a greater fuel capacity. ALWAYS go with the higher output, because you'll cause more damage and thus use less fuel.

Also, remember that when you use Frame HPs in the menu, it uses far less fuel than it does when used in battle.

As for money? Yes, there are hobgobs in the Lahan area, but they don't appear in groups of four often, whereas in the sewers they always do. Plus, while in the sewers you can practice your newly-available seven-point deathblows, as there will be a very long stretch upcoming where you can't use Gears. Concentrate on perfecting Fei, Citan and Elly in particular. However, Shevat is right after Babel Tower, and you will have to explore Shevat's shafts, which are loaded with enemies that give away MASSIVE amounts of gold and are keen on dropping Gold Nuggets, and are excellent for building deathblows. It's not quite as foolproof as the hobgob deal, since that's 100% surefire, but in my opinion hunting in the shafts is more rewarding.

One more thing, I dunno exactly where you are, but if once you destroy the first Solaris gate, don't buy any more Gear upgrades. They get better again, before the third gate, but don't bother with them. I won't say why, other than that by the time you use Gears again after that, several will have recieved automatic upgrades across the board, and those that don't, well, by that point you can buy parts that are much better than those available now, so don't waste your money.

Then again, buying the upgrades right before Babel is a waste too, as the stuff you get right after Babel is MUCH better and even pricier (and Babel's enemies don't pose too much of a threat), but I guess it's too late now... Just remember that when you buy the new Shevat parts, don't buy any after that.
