Quote:You know it, I know it, but you refuse to actually admit it. So I do the same.

Not true. Whenever you bring up this subject of course I say that its an opinion... but why should I constantly mention that fact? Isn't it pretty much a given in most of our debates?

Quote:Darunia has never seriously angered me. The only two people at Tendo City that have actually managed to seriously piss me off are you and DJ, and that is most certainly recent.

Just look at how you phrased that. "That's not true", as if your idiotic opinion were fact. You do this all of the time, and it's annoying as hell.

Sorry, you've only called him insane and stupid. Big difference, I'm sure...

Quote:WRONG.

NOBODY HERE BUT YOU AND DJ ANNOY THE FUCK OUT OF ME. What part of that can't you get through that insanely thick skull?? THIS is precisely why I cannot stand you two assholes, and THIS is why I'm seriously thinking about leaving this damn place. The only times I have ever seriously insulted anyone here is when they've pissed me off, and you two are the only ones that have done that.

ABF, this is why you have no friends in real life. You're a fucking asshole and you don't even realize it. Right now I don't give a damn whether or not it's actually your fault. A dick is a dick.

We argue more than I do with most other people, for one. Not sure why, but its a fact. Sure, I have problems talking to people I don't know and have some other things... but its not like I anger people I actually do know in conversation. Certainly not with any regularity like with you... not sure why, but it is true that you defend your views stronger than most.

Quote:I love it how you proclaim your inane views as "facts". The only fact here is that you don't know the meaning of the word.

And believe me, if I knew you in real life we would be far from buddies. I stay away from people like you, which is why I don't act like this offline.

Your reaction to my post just proves my point more!

Oh yeah. Here's a nice excerpt... :D

Quote:A Black Falcon: wasn't it odd that bleakstare posted once and never said another word?
A Black Falcon: i would think he'd at least read it and get on msn or something
Dark Jaguar: hmm
Dark Jaguar: It is odd
Dark Jaguar: Does anyone besides us know about Bleakstare's new identity?
A Black Falcon: no
A Black Falcon: and no one posted in that thread...
A Black Falcon: i'd think someone might have been able toguess
A Black Falcon: (who that was)
A Black Falcon: but i gues no one cared. :D
Dark Jaguar: heh
Dark Jaguar: Both of us hinted well enough :D
Dark Jaguar: But then again, no one ever gets my hints.
Dark Jaguar: Yeesh, I hinted at my real name for the longest time...
A Black Falcon: really?
Dark Jaguar: You didn't notice?
A Black Falcon: no
Dark Jaguar: I've been doing it since 2 incarnations of TC ago
Dark Jaguar: Rumble, I believe
A Black Falcon: really?
A Black Falcon: no, i think everyone was pretty surprised...
Dark Jaguar: hmm, yes I imagine they would be
A Black Falcon: hints?
A Black Falcon: you dodged anything \even close to 'who are you' every time it came up...
Dark Jaguar: Indeed
Dark Jaguar: It was fun
A Black Falcon: really?
A Black Falcon: huh
A Black Falcon: 'hints' hah
A Black Falcon: nothing anyone else could tell as a hint, i imagine? :)
Dark Jaguar: apparently NOT
A Black Falcon: no. :)
Dark Jaguar: I mean, I actually SAID it a couple times
A Black Falcon: really?
Dark Jaguar: Generally, I worked in some hints into my occasional compeltely insane rant
A Black Falcon: but does anyone read them? :D
Dark Jaguar: aha
A Black Falcon: hey
A Black Falcon: you know that's the first time you straight admitted it? To me, at least...
A Black Falcon: oh, and OB1 has said as much as 'I often skim over DJ's posts'...
Dark Jaguar: Did I now? :D
Dark Jaguar:
A Black Falcon: well
Dark Jaguar: ( I love doing that )
A Black Falcon: i never know with you...
A Black Falcon: :)

Just thought that people would find this part interesting...
OB1, exactly what did I do that's so hurtful there? I decided to talk about your points, but not you the person. ABF did and I said "ah" a lot, but that's about it. I will say that ABF thinks it's wrong to not share one's opinions when they are wanted, a view I couldn't disagree more with.

You took this the wrong way. This was intended to CLEAR UP matters.

I'm not your friend? That makes me sad...
OB1... you blame most all of the fact you find me annoying on me, but I really do think that the fact that none of the other people I talk to online have that problem shows something about you too... and as for the 'they'll dislike you eventually too' thing, I think that that's fallacious. After all, I've known DJ for as long as I have you... and not hugely different from other people I talk to online... sure, we do argue more than I do with anyone else. But that's not just my problem, as you admit... that takes both of us. :)

I just don't see what you find so awful about the way I post... and saying 'see, that's your problem' isn't exactly helpful.

Oh yeah, and DJ, OB1 seems to be seriously thinking about leaving TC... and his reaction to this proves my points, no matter if he says they're not true. I mean... his whole reaction proves the 'overreacts' thing beyond doubt! I don't know what could be done about that, though... I would hardly expect OB1 to suddenly change the way he interprets posts... but still, its really not good. I'd just say that OB1 takes what we say too far and too seriously...

(BTW, sounds a lot like why Biggah left, doesn't it? I find that ironic...)

Whoa whoa, I've only called him names when he did it to me, and they were never serious. It's just fun to tease a guy that likes Quest 64 but calls other people stupid. He's kinda like nick that way. I don't dislike him at all. If he called me a jackass I would call him something like a buttmunch, because it's less harsh then calling him something else.

You took this the wrong way. This was intended to CLEAR UP matters.

I'm not your friend? That makes me sad...

You're bashing my opinions and my "points" but not myself?? That makes no sense! We are defined by our opinions and views, especially in the online world. When you talk badly about someone behind their back instead of confronting them directly, I lose all respect for you. Whether that's myself, ABF, or anyone else. I do not tolerate back-biting.

Quote:OB1... you blame most all of the fact you find me annoying on me, but I really do think that the fact that none of the other people I talk to online have that problem shows something about you too... and as for the 'they'll dislike you eventually too' thing, I think that that's fallacious. But that's not just my problem, as you admit... that takes both of us.

You annoy me the most because I am not afraid of confrontation, and I do not back off in an argument. DJ hates confrontation, so she gets along with you better. DJ is afraid of coming up to someone and trying to work out a problem directly with them, which is why she never stays for debates or ever tells anyone how she feels about them. She can only go to someone else and complain about that person.

Quote:I just don't see what you find so awful about the way I post... and saying 'see, that's your problem' isn't exactly helpful.

I've already explained this, and I already went into detail. I'm not going to explain it again in this forum. Perhaps I'll have time to get on msn tonight.

This is exactly what I was talking about last night, ABF. You don't understand people, how incredibly irritating you are. You claim that I overreact because you don't understand any of this. I'm far from overreacting right now. I've been going to this place for over four years now, and it's definitely not what it used to be. Only a few members actually want to talk about video games, and even then it always turns into a big debate between me and you. You say something ridiculously stupid and I can't help but react to it. It's come to the point where visiting this place is a real chore, and I don't like that. Perhaps, if I learn to tolerate your... uniqueness (to put it very politely), if you stop trying to turn every friggin topic into a debate, and if everyone here actually wants to turn this place back into a real forum for discussing all things Nintendo-related... then I'll reconsider leaving. But I am afraid that this will probably be too much to ask for.
Quote:But you don't state your opinions as actual opinions. You state them as "fact".

No, as what I believe. You are free to believe differently in most all our debates...

Quote:Whoa whoa, I've only called him names when he did it to me, and they were never serious. It's just fun to tease a guy that likes Quest 64 but calls other people stupid. I was just remembering how just before the latest DJ thing exploded you were calling Darunia insane and the dumbest person here, before you switched it to DJ and then to me...

Quote:I have less tolerance for you because out of everyone at Tendo City I get into arguments with you the most. I'm not afraid of defending my opinion and neither are you.

That is true, and most people aren't like that... which is too bad. I also like people to defend their opinions. :)

Quote:What point? That you annoy me? I already said that!

That you take what I say too far all the time. Read more into it than I mean.

I do have to agree that attacking someone's opinions is a form of personal attack... I'd say that its not quite the same (and isn't as bad as) a direct attack on them, its close. And DJ should have been saying that stuff to you too. I don't think it was done maliciously, of course, as I said... DJ's value system is just totally incompatible with yours (and to a lesser extent mine), and it causes this problem. But I really do think that I've explained that twenty times now.

Not completely accurate... from talking to DJ I get the distinct impression that DJ would have said a lot of that to you too on MSN... but for some reason on the forum, and you're never on MSN. Why is there a difference? I have no clue, ask DJ.

Quote:I've already explained this, and I already went into detail. I'm not going to explain it again in this forum. Perhaps I'll have time to get on msn tonight.

I was out earlier (see: playing Mischief Makers). After now is okay though. :)

I agree TC's not what it used to be. I agree that games aren't discussed enough (though its not anywhere near the level of non-conversation about games that the Nintendorks forum is at...). I agree that we've lost members who posted and not added many who contribute much. I don't know what we can do about that, though...

And you DO have a problem... but we've discussed that too about five hundred times and I don't want to waste more time talking about how you cannot accept that your opinion isn't the law (especially given how you pretty much deny it... but as I said we've been over this way too many times to make another arguement worthwhile...).
Quote:No, as what I believe. You are free to believe differently in most all our debates...

Oh for crying out loud, you're not listening. Again. You state your opinions as if they were objective fact.

Quote:I was just remembering how just before the latest DJ thing exploded you were calling Darunia insane and the dumbest person here, before you switched it to DJ and then to me...

Well of course I called him insane. He tried debating on why Resident Evil is better than Metroid Prime and other crazy things like that. But I thought it was kind of cute, in a stupid sort of way.

Quote:That is true, and most people aren't like that... which is too bad. I also like people to defend their opinions.

Yeah well it's getting very annoying for everyone at TC when every single topic here turns into a debate.

Quote:That you take what I say too far all the time. Read more into it than I mean.

According to you I take what you say too far. I think I'm reacting quite normally so the stupid things you say.

Wow, are you dense... sorry, but its true. I came as close as humanly possible without directly saying it... if you want to know, just go read the thread "A Black Falcon" by Bleakstare in Tendo City, and you'll get it... though you should have a week ago... :)

Though how you thought I meant THAT is a complete mystery to me. You clearly didn't read either that thread or that chat excerpt.

As do you, and not just in debates with me.

And I often think you way over-react. Your 'wow that is so stupid how could you think that you idiot' stuff seems way too strong a reaction for a lot of the things you say that about...

Quote:Perhaps because she's afraid of everyone at Tendo City seeing how she acts.

Huh? If she acted like that at TC we probably wouldn't have this problem... but as DJ explains quite thuroughly somewhere in that chatlog, DJ just doesn't understand why our opinion that that would be good makes any sense.

Quote:I have a problem because you annoy me... yeah, that makes sense. So instead of you trying to lower your annoyance level, I should try to tolerate your nonsense more.

No, what I meant was that if simple statements of opinion (which is what most of what annoys you seems to be) annoys you so much... I don't know, it just seems strange. Caring way too much about how my opinion is so awful or something, I don't really get it...

I don't know, if you take it that seriously maybe you SHOULD leave... though I really don't get why you find me so annoying.

No, I didn't read it. I really don't care about who Bleakstare is, but from what you told me on msn it sounded like you were suggesting that it was DJ. Try to improve those piss-poor communication skills of yours.

If it were a matter of me not liking your opinions then I would have no friends in this world. Hell, I even have one friend that hates Star Wars (shocking, I know). It's not your opinions that bother me, but rather how you state them as fact and the way you conduct yourself in this forum.

I just don't get your 'you state opinions as fact' thing. It makes no sense at all. I mean... one of the facets of your arguements with people (and I DO NOT just mean me! I read enough of your debates with other people to know that you act pretty much the same with other people once they 'annoy' you...) is how you are so sure that your opinions are the absolute truth and that the other person's are stupid and wrong! You do that SO OFTEN that hearing you of all people complaining about me not saying "IMO" is just silly and absurd... its the pot calling the kettle black, in short.

Except unlike you I don't insult people much at all.

And as I've said a billion times, why does it matter if I say IMO or not in a discussion of videogames? Unless we're discussing Deer Hunter or something, most any opinion I have on a game is obviously an opinion... but to debate them you have to say that they can be argued, which requires arguing against opinions. I don't get your complaint here.

Quote:No, I didn't read it. I really don't care about who Bleakstare is, but from what you told me on msn it sounded like you were suggesting that it was DJ. Try to improve those piss-poor communication skills of yours.

Reading the chatlog, I can see why you were confused... sorry, I just didn't want to go out and clearly say 'Bleakstare = Biggah' unless you'd figured it out already...

Quote:I only do that in stupid debates with you, and I do that to show you how incredibly annoying it is. Obviously you are too dense to realize that.

That just isn't true! You do that all the time! Or at least I can sure rememeber you acting like that in debates with others...

Quote:We don't have any new memebers because of these stupid arguments.

No, that's because no one can actually find this place...

Quote:None of you are willing to look at what you do or even admit your faults. It's very sad, and why I rarely talk to you two on msn.

Funny, I generally think that MSN chats are better and less contentious than post ones, most of the time...

Quote:Truthfully I don't care what DJ thinks anymore. The less I have to think about her the better. I hope she grows up soon.

So because she doesn't want to get drawn into admittedly pointless arguements and doesn't see the value of defending what DJ calls 'just a point of comment that I want to make' DJ is childish? Erm

I'd say that its just different... more annoying in many ways sure, but not 'bad'. Just different in a way that drives you nuts. :)
Quote:I just don't get your 'you state opinions as fact' thing. It makes no sense at all. I mean... one of the facets of your arguements with people (and I DO NOT just mean me! You do that SO OFTEN that hearing you of all people complaining about me not saying "IMO" is just silly and absurd... its the pot calling the kettle black, in short.

I did start doing that more often after having seen you do it for so long, but I have been trying to change that. You're not willing to do the same.

Quote:Except unlike you I don't insult people much at all.

Now that is a huge lie. You don't go out and call people "poopy face", but you always insult people's points of views whenever you're in a debate. Instead of saying "you're dumb" you'll say "I don't know how anyone with half a brain could think like you do", which is just a longer way of saying "you're dumb".

Quote:And as I've said a billion times, why does it matter if I say IMO or not in a discussion of videogames? I don't get your complaint here.

You don't have to add IMO to everything, you just have to stop acting as if your opinion were fact. Like when someone said that they liked goldfish crackers you didn't say "I hate those", you said "Those are terrible". Big difference there. If you can't tell the difference between those two statements then you have a real problem.

Quote:Reading the chatlog, I can see why you were confused... sorry, I just didn't want to go out and clearly say 'Bleakstare = Biggah' unless you'd figured it out already...

I don't care.

Only when someone annoys me, but that's usually just you and DJ.

Quote:No, that's because no one can actually find this place...

Even the people that know where this place is won't post because of these stupid debates!

Quote:Funny, I generally think that MSN chats are better and less contentious than post ones, most of the time...

"Most of the time"...

I'd say that its just different... more annoying in many ways sure, but not 'bad'. Just different in a way that drives you nuts.

No, I don't care if DJ doesn't follow-up on her posts anymore, I just don't respect her for not being able to tell me directly when she has a problem with me. Going to someone else to talk badly about another person is extremely low.

And damnit, it's spelled ARGUMENT, not ARGUEMENT!!
Hmm, perhaps you should re-read that. I just want you to totally change your mind about me instantaneously only because I said so, that's all. :D

Look, I didn't do that, and if you read that you would see that's the case. You will continue to believe I'm gossiping about you or something, but whatever. Sheesh, if anyone bashed you behind you back it was ABF.

Oh, and I suppose it's totally different when you call people at IGN morons or people at various other companies "idiots"? You went to someone else to complain about that person all the same with no intention of ever telling that person. More to the point, you talk about me to people on MSN all the time, or at least to ABF, rather than go to me. I know, I've BEEN online at those times.

Indeed, if you read what I said, the only thing I did with ABF was point out where I disagree with you. I never insulted you, I just said I disagree with some stuff you say and why. Indeed, you need to take a long look at what defines a human if you think the only thing that defines us are our opinions on things. Talking to someone else about how one disagrees with their views is certainly not gossip. When it came to other stuff, like non-Metroid stuff, I made it very clear I fully intended on bringing it up with you when you calmed down.

Oh, and the ego on you to think you are a major point of conversation at all times or something. That is pretty much the total amount of conversing on the subject of you I've had. I suppose it's also very "low" of me to also talk with people on MSN about having not seen LL online in a long time.

OB1, you need to learn to calm down. It's good to see you finally accepted there's nothing wrong with just stating one's opinions and just leaving to let you two discuss them as you see fit, not really caring if you agree or disagree.

Oh, and if you honestly don't care about the Bleakstare thing, why do you keep talking about it? Even saying "I don't care" prooves you cared enough to say that.
Quote:I did start doing that more often after having seen you do it for so long, but I have been trying to change that. You're not willing to do the same.

That's not the way I remember it, but whatever... and you're trying to change that? It hasn't shown...

Quote:Now that is a huge lie. You don't go out and call people "poopy face", but you always insult people's points of views whenever you're in a debate. Instead of saying "you're dumb" you'll say "I don't know how anyone with half a brain could think like you do", which is just a longer way of saying "you're dumb".

I meant that I act quite a bit nicer. And I do.

Quote:You don't have to add IMO to everything, you just have to stop acting as if your opinion were fact. Like when someone said that they liked goldfish crackers you didn't say "I hate those", you said "Those are terrible". Big difference there. If you can't tell the difference between those two statements then you have a real problem.

But what I meant was 'I don't like them'... okay, maybe I should have phrased it differently, but why is that so horrible?

Quote:Only when someone annoys me, but that's usually just you and DJ.

In the last few months, yeah, but other people seemed to annoy you farther back...

Somewhat true... but I think that lack of members is an equally big problem, which would help solve that one... and people don't really talk that much about games in the threads we don't argue in either! You can't deny that...

Quote:"Most of the time"...

Yup, most of the time. :)

Erm

What?

Quote:Look, I didn't do that, and if you read that you would see that's the case. You will continue to believe I'm gossiping about you or something, but whatever. Sheesh, if anyone bashed you behind you back it was ABF.

I read those transcripts that ABF posted, so I know what you said.

I've never talked badly about you to ABF or anyone else when you weren't there.

And are you saying that you can't tell the difference between calling Nintendo stupid for not making online games and calling someone you personally know stupid?? Come on now.

Quote:Indeed, if you read what I said, the only thing I did with ABF was point out where I disagree with you. I never insulted you, I just said I disagree with some stuff you say and why. It's most certainly gossip. What you did was insult my opinions and the things I said (according to you). Humans are defined by their minds, are they not? And in the online arena we get to know each other by reading each other's words. That means thoughts, opinions, ideas, etc. Saying that we are not defined by these things (especially when we know each other only through what we write) is ridiculous.

Quote:Oh, and the ego on you to think you are a major point of conversation at all times or something. That is pretty much the total amount of conversing on the subject of you I've had.

If you would take the time to actually read my entire post you will see that I was referring to the chat transcripts that you posted. I do not think that you talk about me all of the time.

Quote:I suppose it's also very "low" of me to also talk with people on MSN about having not seen LL online in a long time.

If you followed that comment with "LL thinks such stupid things" then yes, it would be very low of you.

Quote:OB1, you need to learn to calm down. It's good to see you finally accepted there's nothing wrong with just stating one's opinions and just leaving to let you two discuss them as you see fit, not really caring if you agree or disagree.

I haven't accepted that at all. I'm just sick of trying to make you defend your points.

Quote:Oh, and if you honestly don't care about the Bleakstare thing, why do you keep talking about it? Even saying "I don't care" prooves you cared enough to say that.

Did you actually read my entire posts? It sure doesn't look like it. I only talked about the whole stupid Bleakstare thing when ABF mentioned it. He writes something, and I reply to it. Notice how I'm doing that right now.
ABF, you are a pretty nice person actually. Not sure why OB1 considers you mean. I mean, aside from TOTALLY DESSIMATING MY TROOPS WITH NO HINT OF MERCY, you've been pretty nice. Generally, it's obvious it's just your own opinion on many things like games, but perhaps a little rephrasing is in order occasionally, like OB1's example (though you don't make statements like that nearly that often, as far as I can tell anyway).

I'll say this. Often a thread will be somewhat lively for a time, but then you two argue, and the thread immediatly dies. Well, you two are still there, I guess, but everyone else left except for GR or myself occasionally popping in to add something. Of course, at first I'm sure everyone has their own opinions, but they are wiser than I and keep their mouth shut. It's not a cowardly thing to do by the way. Ever heard of "turning the other cheek"?

I know I'm being an idiot for popping in here. Someone with any sense of honor would realize that only a fool takes up a fool's argument, and anyone with self respect would know better than to actually try and change another's viewpoint of one's self via a debate of all things. But as OB1 points out, I have neither, so I end up defending myself.
Quote:That's not the way I remember it, but whatever... and you're trying to change that? It hasn't shown...

That's because you're not very observant.

Quote:I meant that I act quite a bit nicer. And I do.

Oh you're soo full of crap. You can be very mean, especially in those debates with Weltall.

Quote:But what I meant was 'I don't like them'... okay, maybe I should have phrased it differently, but why is that so horrible?

That was just a small example. You do the same thing with everything else, and much more often than I do.

Not really.

Quote:Somewhat true... but I think that lack of members is an equally big problem, which would help solve that one... and people don't really talk that much about games in the threads we don't argue in either! You can't deny that...

Perhaps they're just afraid that it'll turn into another stupid debate. Just try to stop, alright??

Rolleyes

Right, so you have stayed out of all of those emulation and ROM debates because they're "fool's arguments", even though you usually start them? I'm glad you're not a hypocrite, DJ.
Wow, five posts to reply to... I really don't want to reply to all that... :)

How about I do it this way.

Hey, if you read that chat transcript you'd see that we argue somewhat about some things. Not as much as you and I do obviously, but some... but it for some reason just goes better than debating something with you does. That is probably because not many people are as intractable as you...

And DJ... having mercy wouldn't be a good survival strategy in a videogame... :) And also, I do try to be nice. Its tough sometimes and I am not always able to be nice, but I definitely try... I just don't think that insults get anywhere in an arguement. Its probably related to the fact that I don't swear...

And I'll admit that sometimes I could phrase things better.

He's got a point, you know, DJ...

Quote:That's because you're not very observant.

I'd rather blame your clearly selective memory. How else could me, DJ, and most everyone else I have heard talk about you remember one thing while you are trying to claim that it was something different? It doesn't make sense... I know you have insulted people lots of times, and used your standard 'your position is totally stupid and wrong but beleive it if you want to but it shows how you are stupid' debating strategy against far too many people to believe you when you say its just us, or its just recent!

Quote:Oh you're soo full of crap. You can be very mean, especially in those debates with Weltall.

That is different. Those are real-world debates which actually do matter and I am often quite disturbed by his positions on things...

Quote:Perhaps they're just afraid that it'll turn into another stupid debate. Just try to stop, alright??

Neither of us seems to be able to help it when someone says something we disagree with. :)

Quote:I've never talked badly about you to ABF or anyone else when you weren't there.

And are you saying that you can't tell the difference between calling Nintendo stupid for not making online games and calling someone you personally know stupid?? Come on now.

I'll bet you've talked badly about DJ to me before without DJ being there... but that second statement is a good question.

I think that pretty much sums up DJ's position, and OB1's now...

Though, DJ, how exactly would you think he doesn't care after all he has said about this? Seems quite strange.

Quote:Did you actually read my entire posts? It sure doesn't look like it. I only talked about the whole stupid Bleakstare thing when ABF mentioned it. He writes something, and I reply to it. Notice how I'm doing that right now.

DJ, he doesn't care. He's made that clear.
I start the debates on emulation? Generally I don't say anything about emulation until I comment about wanting some game and someone decides to tell me to "download the ROM". THEN I just reiterate that I don't and why I don't, as I have to apparently, and for some reason that person takes it to be me starting a debate. It's very clear to me that it's the person who told me to download the ROM illegally in the first place that started it. I never intend it to escalate. I state my view and I should think THAT would be enough. I never said you HAVE to agree with me. You could have just said "oh yeah, I forgot" (to be honest, that's the only possible explanation for why you would be telling me to in the first place) and just moved on, but no, if someone says something you disagree with you just have to make them change their minds. Actually, this can be said about pretty much any debate we get into. I'll make some comments, someone else will disagree, generally in the form of an attack rather than just stating their own views, and I, being way too sensitive, take the bait and get into an argument. I eventually realize how stupid it is in the end and just let it be. It's not that I'm "above" them by the way. Obviously the very fact that I joined in prooves it. That's a very twisted viewpoint, to say that anyone who refuses to do something they find to be wrong must consider themselves "above such a fowl thing" or whatever. It's not about myself, it's about doing the right thing. I'm not saying I'm better than you at all. Ego has nothing to do with it. I just know it would be wrong of me to join in or continue such things. I am not saying I'm NOT a fool. The very statement was intended to show that I AM a fool, to continue such things.

OB1, your views on what is right and wrong are obviously the exact opposite of my own in this regard. You have actually been TRYING to get me to keep debating, goading me on? Why would you DO that? I ended it in the hopes we could move on and you want to stay in the past? You just won't ever let things alone.

As an example, I see another thing for the first time here. You seem to think that my popping in to comment is actually the CAUSE of new debates. Ridiculous. Take accountability. I never intended it to happen like that, and most importantly, you two COULD have just read it and possibly commented on it without argument, but you decided TO argue. What responsibility do I have to end it? I'm not your parent you know. The very idea of blaming others for your OWN arguments is simply cowardly.

Finally, I already made it very clear that I never once insulted you behind your back. I never once called you stupid to ABF, just read that. Obviously, it's very clear that you think me saying something about your views on Metroid WAS some form of personal attack, but it wasn't. The closest thing I did was insinuate your playing skills weren't up to pa. If you can consider that a personal attack then you are very sensitive, especially considering I immediatly added you must be better at Prime than I.

OB1, you really need to reevaluate your values regarding this before you end up attacking someone who insulted your mother or something. I imagine you'd be all like "well if I didn't do anything it would be like admitting what that person said was true!".
I know how we could keep the constant arguing from pushing people away!! We could have a seperate forum just for debating! I mean, something like that is just crazy enough to work, right?! It's brilliant!! I'm going to get right on that...

...

...

Oh...right. *runs away*

*comes back*

Just a friendly word of advice from everybody's favorite Rumbler: Chill out, peeps!! Goodness! You're like Frankensteins children on crack! And I don't even know what that means! Oh, and eat these mystriously glowing mushrooms I found in backyard. I've been told their good for this type of situation. Or something.

You may try to be nice, but it rarely ever works in arguments.

Quote:And I'll admit that sometimes I could phrase things better.

Yay, you finally admit it. Now we're one step closer to recovery.

The only times I have insulted someone was when a) they threw standard insults at me (like Darunia and his name-calling) or b) when the insulted me in a roundabout way (like you do).

Quote:That is different. Those are real-world debates which actually do matter and I am often quite disturbed by his positions on things...

Come on, your so-called "real-world debates" or nothing more than a huge contest over who can say "I'm right, you're wrong" the greatest number of times. We actually manage resolve things in a civil manner from time to time, while nothing is ever settled between you and Weltall.

So because I replied to your post about Bleaskstare it means that I really do care about the whole thing? Erm I can respond to your comments about something without actually caring about the thing you are discussing. I really don't care who Bleakstare is.

Would you be happier if I were to completely ignore all posts relating to Bleakstare?

DJ, you started a whole debate on emulation in Ramble City. Look for yourself: http://tcforums.com/forums/showthread.ph...eadid=1266

Now admittedly you didn't go out and say "Emulation is evil!", but you did say something that got a reaction from ABF, and don't try to tell us that you didn't think what you said was provocative.

Quote:OB1, your views on what is right and wrong are obviously the exact opposite of my own in this regard. You have actually been TRYING to get me to keep debating, goading me on? If you look at most of mine and ABF's debates you'll see that we actually resolve things sometimes. When you leave a debate then there is absolutely no chance to resolve anything, and so the debate will just continue forever. If you actually stuck around sometimes then we could actually resolve some issues. That is what I want to do. I hate arguing, but I hate leaving things unresolved even more so.

Your comments on Metroid did not hurt me. The problem I have is that you went to great length to insult my opinions but never once said anything about it to me. Those kinds of actions do not resolve things, they only make them worse. Why can't you understand that?

Quote:OB1, you really need to reevaluate your values regarding this before you end up attacking someone who insulted your mother or something. I imagine you'd be all like "well if I didn't do anything it would be like admitting what that person said was true!".

You seem to be very confused about what I have been saying this whole time. Re-read the last several posts in this thread and then come back to me.
Really? You can't just drop it? You MUST see everything you ever talk about to the very end? There's just one small thing there. Very often there IS no end. I've seen your "resolutions". Most of the time, either you two just get fed up with the whole thing, OR you finally just accept the other has their opinion. Neither of you actually CHANGE your mind on the issue, you just finally both accept the other has a different viewpoint. Why you had to argue over it is beyond me. You couldn't just accept it from the start? What you call "resolving" is essentially you two finally doing the thing you should have done from the start. That's nothing to be proud of. When I leave it's because I've judged that the argument isn't going anywhere and don't want to remain, I've said that MANY times. Why should I remain? There's nothing to see through to the end in those situations. EVeryone repeats themselves and nothing gets solved. You know, having just recently said that you really do find ABF to be an idiot, I can't help but think your so-called resolutions weren't what I thought they were. You know what a real resolution is? Ditching everything that doesn't count and agreeing to disagree, being friends afterwards. Do you NEED to convince everyone of your point of view ALL the time? There's a lot more to life than opinions.

Oh, and you really are oversensitive. You seem to think I'm always insulting you in little round about ways or something...

Hey, lemme ask you something. I have this memory of very early on a little after I joined Tendo City long ago. I had asked about Goldeneye, which I was having trouble with. I had assumed everyone on the net was better at games than I was, and thus made it clear I was aware that beating the last normal level after what I thought was a long time compaired to most people. Someone came in and thought I was bragging in a round-about way, which surprised me. Was that you? If so, that prooves my point.

Finally, I never insulted you behind your back! Yeesh, the evidence is right up there (well, not really, I didn't post everything I've ever said, plus you have no idea if I'm being truthful in my account). All I did was talk with ABF and we got on that subject so I just basically explained in detail why I disagree. Why you see that as such an offensive and low thing is beyond me, but I think it has something to do with your already established heart-worn-on-sleeve condition.

Thanks, Dr. Phil. Rolleyes

And I called ABF annoying, not an idiot.

When we resolve things it's usually not just because we're fed up with the subject, it's because we find common ground on the issue. Big difference!

Quote:Oh, and you really are oversensitive. You seem to think I'm always insulting you in little round about ways or something...

There's a difference between being sensitive and knowing when someone is insulting you.

Why do I always have to point out these obvious differences to you? Yeesh.

Ah, no. I used to talk about my great Goldeneye times back then, so I wouldn't care about someone telling me their times.

You seem to be running out of labels. Everything is about sensitivity for you. I don't have to be insulted about something to be offended by the act of it. Does that make sense to you?
Um, that's my point. You seem to think I was insulting you in round about ways, like I do it all the time or something. My point is that you're wrong.

When we resolve things it's usually not just because we're fed up with the subject, it's because we find common ground on the issue. Big difference!

It does sound kind of like something a Dr. Phil would say... :D

And you're both right. Sometimes we just agree to disagree, sometimes we're just tired of arguing... but more often than you think, we find common ground and agree on something in the middle, eventually. You never stick around to see that, DJ, so you wouldn't know... but it happens all the time!

Quote:There's a difference between being sensitive and knowing when someone is insulting you.

Why do I always have to point out these obvious differences to you? Yeesh.

Because you are most certainly oversensitive. Its a very good explanation for why you react as absurdly as you do to some things people say...

Quote:DJ, you started a whole debate on emulation in Ramble City. Look for yourself: http://tcforums.com/forums/showthre...=&threadid=1266

Now admittedly you didn't go out and say "Emulation is evil!", but you did say something that got a reaction from ABF, and don't try to tell us that you didn't think what you said was provocative.

Yeah, DJ has started that before... I just think her position is silly. I generally don't start that myself, since I know DJ's position... but if it comes up of course I'll say what I think.

Quote:Your comments on Metroid did not hurt me. The problem I have is that you went to great length to insult my opinions but never once said anything about it to me. Those kinds of actions do not resolve things, they only make them worse. Why can't you understand that?

Because, of course, DJ's value system is radically different from yours...

Quote:Oh great, double quotes. Ugh.

Only three. :)

Quote:You may try to be nice, but it rarely ever works in arguments.

All I can do is try... and I think its just better than insults.

Quote:Thank you.

The fact DJ didn't really respond truly shocks me... Rolleyes

Quote:The only times I have insulted someone was when a) they threw standard insults at me (like Darunia and his name-calling) or b) when the insulted me in a roundabout way (like you do).

When you're not in an arguement you always say stuff like that, but it just seems like you quickly start it up in almost every one...

Quote:So because I replied to your post about Bleaskstare it means that I really do care about the whole thing? I can respond to your comments about something without actually caring about the thing you are discussing. I really don't care who Bleakstare is.

Would you be happier if I were to completely ignore all posts relating to Bleakstare?

What... huh? Those are two completely different things I said, about different subjects...

The first one was saying how I didn't know how DJ could think that you didn't care anymore about DJ's opinion... DJ took your 'I won't bother with that annoying DJ' and made it into 'OB1 accepted my opinion'. Given all you've said on the subject I don't see how DJ could come to that conclusion...

And that second quote there (of mine) before your reply... I think you get it now, so nothing more needs to be said in this thread about that. :)
OB1, just answer me this. How might THIS particular thing be resolved?
Quote:Um, that's my point. You seem to think I was insulting you in round about ways, like I do it all the time or something. My point is that you're wrong.

DJ, I read the transcript for myself. Now unless it was some sort of code that didn't actually mean what it looked like, that's how it is.

Yeah, it actually does. I hate arguing but I like to resolve things, so that's why I stick around in these stupid debates.

Rolleyes

Let me explain that one more time for y'all.

If someone throws rocks at you and they really don't hurt, you can still be offended by the act of the rock-throwing, the bad intentions.

Quote:Yeah, DJ has started that before... I just think her position is silly. I generally don't start that myself, since I know DJ's position... but if it comes up of course I'll say what I think.

And DJ had to know that you would react to that. I was going to but I decided to let you do the honors.

Quote:All I can do is try... and I think its just better than insults.

:bang:

You do insult people in arguments. I just explained that!

Quote:The fact DJ didn't really respond truly shocks me...

Indeed.

Quote:When you're not in an arguement you always say stuff like that, but it just seems like you quickly start it up in almost every one...

No, I never start it. I just retaliate. Which I know is almost as bad, but hey--nobody's perfect.

I care about DJ's opinion, it just gets very annoying to listen to sometimes.

Through consultation.
My point is that I DIDN'T throw rocks but somehow you took it that way. Kinda like someone who accidently bumps their head on a tree and looks behind them and gets mad because they think someone threw a rock. Look, I know you read the transcript. I POSTED it with the very intention of you reading it so you would see I'm not trying to insult you, but you see that as the case anyway. Why don't you give specific examples of what you think was intended as an insult so I can correct the misconception on a more specific level? Not every single interaction is a form of conflict you know, let's try and work together on this thing.

Ugh, now I know how Kif feels. Look, if you didn't intend to insult me then fine, I forgive you. This is going on for far too long.
Who's Kif?

Um, you ARE aware you were the one who blew all this way out of proportion and context to start with right? I was merely defending myself through this whole thing, you being the aggressor. However, at least you do want to end this and move on with life. That's a good thing. All right then. We can get on with this. I forgive you as well.

*gets phone call from Kif*

Kif: And then, oh you wouldn't believe it, he actually asked me to give him a full massage WHILE he was taking a shower! I nearly snapped that lightsaber of his in half when I heard that, but, well you see there he was and...

DJ: Um, yeah well, I'm busy... um, coming up with an excuse. Bye!

Kif: But... well bye...
Quote:Ugh, now I know how Kif feels.

From Futurama?

P.S. People should stop taking everything so seriously. You might live longer...okay, probably not, but you can tell yourself that, right?
Quote:Yeah, it actually does. I hate arguing but I like to resolve things, so that's why I stick around in these stupid debates.

Yesterday night in chat DJ was saying that everyone else could tell our resolutions before the arguements start and that its pointless and stuff... maybe I should post that transcript too to show what kind of crazy things DJ was saying...

Oh, we were specifically talking about that last big PSP debate thread... DJ said that a resolution which is just 'wait and see', accepting different opinions, and changing the subject to something we agree on isn't really a resolution or something... I disagreed of course, since it wasn't like that and isn't often...

I think the biggest thing that particular arguement proved is that DJ really doesn't read our arguements.

Quote:Let me explain that one more time for y'all.

If someone throws rocks at you and they really don't hurt, you can still be offended by the act of the rock-throwing, the bad intentions.

I wouldn't really say that that's a valid comparison here... unless you manage to come up with some way to say that DJ doesn't think throwing rocks at people is bad, which wouldn't make sense.

Quote:You do insult people in arguments. I just explained that!

But I said that those don't count! :)

Really, those real-world ones are definitely different... as I said, those debates definitely matter. Those subjects are things that have great importance in the real world... so of course I care about them and am disturbed greatly by some of the positions Weltall supports!

And anyway, even there I don't swear at people...

Quote:No, I never start it. I just retaliate. Which I know is almost as bad, but hey--nobody's perfect.

Huh? You're often the first one to get nasty in a arguement, at least with us... maybe Darunia is different, not sure.

Quote:I care about DJ's opinion, it just gets very annoying to listen to sometimes.

Yeah, you've made that pretty clear.

You forgive me?? What?? Gah, I just-- agh! Never-friggin-mind. GEEZ.

Yeah, he's always sighing and going "ugh" because Zap is so stupid. :)

Yes I agree.

And for the millionth time, it's argument. No 'e' after the 'u'. :)

Well Hitler didn't think he was doing evil things.

Okay, so that's stretching it some, but it's the same basic thing but on a much smaller scale. DJ doesn't think that she did anything wrong. But whatever, I'm sick of this debate.

Quote:But I said that those don't count!

I don't care what you said!

Yeah for the people that actually have some say in the topics it does matter, but when it's just two guys who are extreme and stubborn in their political views and no amount of debating will ever change their sides, it is of no importance whatsoever.

Quote:Huh? You're often the first one to get nasty in a arguement, at least with us... maybe Darunia is different, not sure.

I only retaliate.

Good.

Yeah, because of course you are blameless and a great example of how we all should be!

Okay, so that's stretching it some, but it's the same basic thing but on a much smaller scale. DJ doesn't think that she did anything wrong. But whatever, I'm sick of this debate.

Yeah, that's ... going a bit far. What DJ did isn't anywhere near any of your examples...

Oh, I know no one will ever budge one inch. That's why I'd rather call them arguements than debates... 'debate' implies some amount of give and take...

Quote:I only retaliate.

Only retaliate? I doubt it. Or at least, a lot of what you seem to take as things worthy of major retaliation aren't that to anyone else (over-reaction, as we've both said a million times, is a big flaw of yours)...
Quote:Yeah, because of course you are blameless and a great example of how we all should be!

Almost!

Quote:Yeah, that's ... going a bit far. What DJ did isn't anywhere near any of your examples...

Well it's the same principle.

Quote:Oh, I know no one will ever budge one inch. That's why I'd rather call them arguements than debates... 'debate' implies some amount of give and take...

They're utterly pointless.

Quote:Only retaliate? I doubt it. Or at least, a lot of what you seem to take as things worthy of major retaliation aren't that to anyone else (over-reaction, as we've both said a million times, is a big flaw of yours)...

I don't think so.
What I did? I didn't DO what he thinks I did though. That's why I posted the chat logs. And yes OB1, it's overreaction when you assume someone meant something they didn't at all.

Now then, what exactly did I do that's so horrible you can't be friends with me any more? Did I insult you behind your back? Certainly not. Did I talk with ABF about something you talked about? Yes. Re-reading your posts, it seems you actually think I was trying to subtly insult you in my chats with ABF. That's an example of misinterpreting what I said. Give me an example of exactly what I said, as in QUOTE ME, where you think I was trying to insult you.
Quote:Almost!

Maybe we should allow you some delusions... :)

Quote:Well it's the same principle.

Sorta... but thats a very extreme example.

Quote:They're utterly pointless.

Well, yeah, I've said as much plenty of times myself...

Quote:I don't think so.

But we are writing those comments you overreact (or react wrongly) to and know so! You take us to mean something we don't CONSTANTLY!

Ugh. The whole thing regarding Metroid and the other things you talked about. The text is right above you.

Rolleyes

Still...

Quote:Well, yeah, I've said as much plenty of times myself...

You just called them "important".

Quote:But we are writing those comments you overreact (or react wrongly) to and know so! You take us to mean something we don't CONSTANTLY!

That's simply not true.
Quote:You just called them "important".

Important in a way, but I know they will never go anywhere. But since I'm interested in politics I'll argue it anyway.

Quote:That's simply not true.

Because, of course, you know what we mean better than we do!

Somehow I doubt that. When we say what we mean and you say we don't mean what we mean... just somehow, I think that we know better what we meant, and its usually not those overreactions of yours.

Quote:Rolleyes

You ask for us to change so much but you think you are fine and perfect while you have just about as many flaws in how you post and act here... that's a MAJOR double standard and its really egocentric to think that your way is RIGHT.

Especially when your way includes telling us that we are lying when we say we mean what we mean!

Quote:Ugh. The whole thing regarding Metroid and the other things you talked about. The text is right above you.

Given how you *STILL* don't seem to have read that excerpt I pulled out and quoted for you to read, and how you admit you didn't read it all, I hardly blame DJ for doubting that you read all of the vital parts...
Actually I somehow think he DID read it and misinterpreted it, and yes, it's very egotistical to think you know what I meant by that better than I. That whole Metroid thing, quote specific lines that seemed to insult you. I can't think of a single thing that insulted you, except MAYBE, as I said, a little comment on your game playing ability. So I say you're wrong, so what? You gonna get insulted by that? Well tough cookies. Guess what every single scientist has to deal with every single time they announce a thesis. Other scientists will talk about why they disagree ALL THE TIME behind the person's back, and maybe only a few of them will actually talk to the scientist about it. It's not meant as an insult to the other scientist when they do that at all. It's a criticism of their work. Why you can't seperate someone from their opinions is beyond me. Humans ARE more than the sum of their opinions, a LOT more even.

Peter Griffin mode activated: And you calling me childish? Well Louis, if I'm childish you know what that makes you? That's right, a pedophile! And I'm certainly not going to be lectured by a pervert!
Quote:Dark Jaguar: Just out of curiosity, when did GR become OB1's lacky?
A Black Falcon: how so?
Dark Jaguar: I must have missed the meeting
Dark Jaguar: I dunno, he seems to be saying "ohohoho Yes!" after everything OB1 says, and has been for like a month.
A Black Falcon: haven't really noticed...
A Black Falcon: what i have noticed with him is how he's agreeing with weltall on every politics thread
Dark Jaguar: Oh wait.
Dark Jaguar: I do remember a while ago he told me he's "messing with" ob1 or something
Dark Jaguar: But either he was actually messing with me or he's planning some REALLY big gag that might end up doing more harm than good.
A Black Falcon: i still don't really know what you're talking about....
A Black Falcon: where has GR been agreeing with OB1 so much?
Dark Jaguar: eh, maybe it's just me
Dark Jaguar: I dunno, but I notice he sides with him against you a lot
A Black Falcon: if you say so...
Dark Jaguar:
A Black Falcon: oh, dj... i'd think your 'i don't want to waste the time' position would be stronger if sometimes you did defend positions... or maybe that'd just get OB1 to call you even more indecisive. i really don't know, given him...
Dark Jaguar: Go ahead and say one thing you don't like about GR, so that I might immediatly tell him (I'm talking to him right now, but don't tell you that!)
A Black Falcon: uhh...
A Black Falcon: very far right politics.

Now that's not very nice...
Quote:Important in a way, but I know they will never go anywhere. But since I'm interested in politics I'll argue it anyway.

Don't you think that's really stupid?

Quote:Because, of course, you know what we mean better than we do!

Somehow I doubt that. When we say what we mean and you say we don't mean what we mean... just somehow, I think that we know better what we meant, and its usually not those overreactions of yours.

No, I don't know my emotions and whether or not I'm telling the truth more than you two. Rolleyes

You see ABF, this is precisely the kind of insanely, mind-numbingly idiotic and egotistical thing that you say on a regular basis that make you so fucking annoying.

And the worst part of it? You're too dumb to even realize that!!

Quote:You ask for us to change so much but you think you are fine and perfect while you have just about as many flaws in how you post and act here... that's a MAJOR double standard and its really egocentric to think that your way is RIGHT.

Especially when your way includes telling us that we are lying when we say we mean what we mean!

I just told you that I was trying to change and stoip with the debates!! What the hell is wrong with you!!

Quote:Given how you *STILL* don't seem to have read that excerpt I pulled out and quoted for you to read, and how you admit you didn't read it all, I hardly blame DJ for doubting that you read all of the vital parts...

I don't care if she believes me or not.

Quote:Now that's not very nice...

Are you really that surprised? They're assholes!
GR... Who, me or DJ? DJ? Yeah, DJ probably should have said that to you and not to me...

DJ... yeah. The centerpiece of his arguement is that he thinks we mean things we don't, and that he knows our opinions better than us! Sure, he has some legitimate things to complain about... but 'I know your opinions better than you do' isn't one of them. It just makes no sense... but will OB1 ever admit that he constantly takes what we say to mean far more than we mean it to? I bet not. He thinks he knows what we mean better than we do, and sees insulting things everywhere... sure, you said some things he certainly disagrees with... but taking them as personal attacks? I don't think so...

Still, you should have said them to him. He has a good point about that.
What in the hell is wrong with you, ABF? You really don't understand anything in this thread. When did I ever say anything about knowing your opinions better than you do?? That's what you said!! What I said was that you and DJ can be extremely annoying at times and that you insult people very often even though you try to deny that. What you do you don't consider as an insult. It's as simple as that. And you're trying to get me to admit that you aren't actually that annoying?? That in itself is extremely annoying! The irony is killing me here!
Yeah, it is ironic that when I say you constantly misunderstand me you misunderstand me once again... :)

Did our chat help? I mean that you constantly take what I mean to mean far more than I do! You do that so often... I say something. You react somehow. Then I spend a long time trying to explain that I didn't actually mean that... but you still often think I meant what you originally thought I did! Its quite frusterating...
Actually, when I said that to ABF I was saying it to GR at the same time :D, essentially creating a funny situation. I was being rather specific actually, trying to make it very clear that's what I was doing by keeping a secret in a VERY bad way.

And OB1.... What's left to say? You think we are insulting you. It's not that we are insulting you without realizing it, it's that we actually AREN'T insulting you and you think we are :D. You take things the wrong way. How you could take us saying you assuming you know our opinions better than us to mean "we know your opinions better than you" is just odd... Of course we are going to deny your take on things if it's wrong, and of COURSE we know what we said and meant far better than you.

Can't you admit to the possibility that you misinterpreted us?
