Quote:John Romero & Tom Hall Off To Midway
A return to mainstream games for the duo.
October 14, 2003 - Recent internet reports indicated that John Romero (creator of the nefarious Daikatana) and Tom Hall (brains behind the excellent Anachronox) had accepted positions at Midway. Romero has stated on his forums that this true and also revealed what their positions will be.

Hall will become Creative Director of projects being developed internally and externally as well as contributing towards the games in a creative capacity. Romero will be Project Lead for an internally developed game (rumours indicate a new version of Gauntlet). Further rumours suggest that Romero will be tasked with restructuring the internal development teams although we have been unable to get confirmation on that as of yet.

Romero put special emphasis on his intention to turn the Midway developers into "hardcore developers," but also mentioned Monkeystone Games, where he had been working with Hall on mobile platform games, will continue to be operated by Lucas Davis.

We shall soon see how their new venture turns out.

Very interesting... John Romero and Tom Hall have gone to Midway Games. Strange choice... they've always been PC game developers and that's a console-centric company. Still, Midway's often been a decent developer... maybe they can make it better.

A new Tom Hall-led Gauntlet game? That'd be awesome!
Midway has been improving a lot since they first started. They certainly aren't in a league with Nintendo, Capcom, Sega, etc, but they are a better-than-average developer now.
Yay, John Romero!

...

Um.... he hasn't made a decent game since... Quake, I believe.
Midway used to be better than they are now, I'd say... their arcade team was the best (Rush, Gauntlet...) and they were fired. But they still make some pretty good games and definitely do seem to be improving... SpyHunter was very cool, for instance. A new Gauntlet game would be awesome... and Tom Hall? He's a great developer! Commander Keen is his. As is Anachronox.

As for John Romero, the only games he's made since Quake are Daikatana and that 2d adventure game he made with Tom Hall... not exactly a big sample. :)
Jonh Romero?! ALRIGHT!! That means we may yet get Daikatana 2 after all! The first game was awesome!! *sarcasm meter explodes*
John Romero also worked on the crappy N-Gage version of Red Faction. Oh how he's fallen...
Hey, Hyperspace Delivery Boy was good... but yes, Tom Hall is definitely the better of the two.
That game was definitely not worth $20.
I only played the demo, but it was fun.
About as fun as Chip's Challenge.
Oh come on, its better than that...
Not by much...
Well I liked it... sure, its simple, but its fun. That's really all you need...
It suuuuuuuuuuuuucked. :shakeit:
Yes, if you dislike puzzle games.
I like puzzle games more than you do!
Well then I'd think you'd like it!
I've already played it...
Yes, so I gathered.
Then why did you basically suggest that I play it?
I didn't.

Quote: Well then I'd think you'd like it!

As in, "I would have thought that you would have liked it...
Use better grammar next time then.:p
It made sense to me... :)
That's because you live in bizarro world where everything that doesn't make sense to everyone else makes perfect sense to you. :p

PIZARRRO! BIZARRRROO!!!
Bizarro is a good comic. :)
I was making an Aqua Teen reference.
So you think... :)
Erm
made sense to me too ABF
That's because you also live in bizarro world.
Why you always gotta run people down OB1?
Insecurity.

It was a Sea Lab reference!!
You essentially said "I didn't like the game much".

So I replied "Really? I would think you would have"... why is that so confusing?
GR: Yeah, one of my favorite Sealab episodes. But for some reason whenever I quote a Williams Street show I usually say Aqua Teen, since that's the most-quotable show of them all. So I said AT instead of Sealab. I feel so ashamed.

DJ: I was joking...

ABF: Your sentences often makes very little sense, so I misunderstood you.

Beanjo: What?

And that's supposed to be addressing each one of you, not me trying to pretend that I'm you...

yeah.
I'm confused...
Let me simplify it for you:

Apple Pie.
...oh.
I like apple pie.
Doesn't everyone?
What's that one thing called where they did it, but they're sorry?
Corfinant?

Did you watch ATHF last night? Shake's voice seemed a bit off for some reason, like as if someone else did his voice.
I didn't really notice any difference.

Did you watch the Brak Show? That was hilarious!
I only caught the last couple of minutes. :(
*walks up stairs in a way that's physically impossible on a bridge* Nope, didn't see it *walks down other set of stairs in same manner*
Midway looks like its serioiusly trying to come back from the major downturn they hit after canning their remaining arcade divisions in early '01... they've had a not very good couple of years, IMO, and its great to see them try to come back as they are.

Oh, its a nice new interview...

Tom Hall making Gauntlet is just so cool. :D
