Quote:Nintendo has added three more games to their Player's Choice lineup. Starting on September 25th you can purchase Metroid Prime, Super Mario Sunshine, and Animal Crossing for only $29.99.

Also the already released Player's Choice games, Star Fox Adventures, Pikmin, and Luigi's Mansion, will have their prices dropped to a meger $19.99. Unfortunately, multiplayer favorite Super Smash Bros. Melee will remain $29.99.

Hmm, if Nintendo were as smart as Konami or some other third-parties they would include all of the enhancements from the PAL version of Metroid Prime in this new budget-priced version. I'd certainly re-buy MP if it included the higher difficulty settings, extra voices, and all of the other enhancements from the PAL port. Hell if Konami could do that with the SH2 GH edition why can't Nintendo?

...

Yeah I know...

Why can't they? You say you know, but do you? Konami just figured it would be a cheap way to release a game they were GOING to release anyway, which was a remake of Silent Hill for PS2 just like the XBox version so people would want to buy that one too. I mean, later they didn't even bother with Metal Gear Solid 2's remake being instant greatest hit and all. As for Metroid Prime, Nintendo never released a remake of it to begin with. Japan and Europe just got superior versions straight from the start. It would be extra work with no real reason to do it, unless they also made it even better in many ways to the Japan/Europe version and could rerelease it there too (Japan is the country where remakes on the SAME CONSOLE sell the most after all).

Stop expecting weird things like this.
And you say that I have problems understanding people?? HA! Perhaps you should try reading other people's posts more clearly, DJ.

When did I say anything about a remake?? I clearly stated PAL version, not "PAL remake". I have no idea how you got "remake" from that statement. Rolleyes

As you know, Japan and Europe got slightly better versions of Metroid Prime and it would be nice if Nintendo would release that version as the Player's Choice disc over here. Kinda like what Square did with FFX USA (or whatever it was called), but since the changes weren't that major it would only make sense for it to be the PC title. It would not be a lot of extra work since they had to make all of the changes to the NTSC version of the game and then do the PAL conversion for Europe. It would be the smart thing for Nintendo to do.

Uh, sorry but that's not what happened. There is no Silent Hill remake for the PS2, so I don't know where you get your information from. The GH version of Silent Hill 2 is just the previously released Silent Hill 2 but with the extra scenario that was included in the X-Box port. Konami gave their fans the extra scenario with the GH version because they are smart.

MGS2 Substance is not a remake of MGS2, either. It appears that you don't know what a remake actually is. Substance is just MGS2 with a crapload of extras, and since MGS is so popular Konami thought that they could sell it at full price.
I'd call those add-ons, not remakes...
SH2 GH is just regular 'ole SH2 but with the extra, short scenario from the X-Box version, and MGS2 Substance is basically just MGS2: Special Edition. Not remakes, not add-ons.
Substance probably has enough added to it to be a add-on. The list of additions sure seemed quite long... but the Silent Hill thing, I don't know. Patch? :) That's probably what I'd call the Metroid improvements too.
It wasn't an add-on since you didn't add it onto anything. It was just a "special edition" of MGS2.

The changes in SH2 GH are far greater than the changes in the PAL port of Metroid Prime. Nintendo would be smart to include those changes to the PC (you know I mean Player's Choice, right?) version of MP, but I doubt they will.
Ie if the Substance things had been sold seperately it'd be a fine amount for an addon...
Sure. But not SH2 GH or PAL Metroid Prime. The SH2 thing would be like an extra downloadable level (like Kola Cell for the X-Box version of Splinter Cell), while the PAL additions to Metroid Prime could be done in a patch. Well, possibly. The AI is tougher in the PAL port.
Isn't that pretty much what I said?
Yeah yeah I know remake was the wrong word to use really, but really what word is there to use? "Special edition" doesn't feel right at all to say all the time.

You act like they always change the disk itself when they make a game player's choice. They don't. They do absolutly nothing to anything but the packaging. It would be a whole lot more work to actually change the data and start printing up a new disk as well.
A lot of PS2 developers make minor or major changes to their games when they become GH titles. Konami with SH 2, Universal with Crash Bandicoot 4 (faster load times), etc. It would be less of an effort for Nintendo to add the PAL changes to the GH version of Metroid Prime than it was for Konami and all of those other third-parties to change improve their GH titles. Plus, the die-hard Nintendo fans would most likely buy the GH version of MP even though they already have the original version. I know I would.

Oh and I don't know about Nintendo's GH line but the PS2 GH discs are colored differently, so it's not a simple repackaging.
