And guess which version is sellling better...

Quote:Namco shipped over 1.6 million units on the first day of Soul Calibur II at retail for GCN, PS2, and Xbox. (Shipping, of course, is not the same as selling.) "The release of Soul Calibur II marks a monumental moment in Namco's already rich video game history," said Namco's Chief Financial Officer, Robert Ennis. "Never before has a Namco title sold as well in its U.S. debut and we hope that this is just a glimpse at what is to come for the 'Soul' franchise." Read our Soul Calibur II review here.

The GameCube version has been outselling the PS2 and Xbox version thanks to the inclusion of our favorite hero, Link, to the fighter's lineup as well as heavy advertising.

Ha! Take that Sony and Microsoft!

N-Philes
Woohoo!
But of course! Come on, a character (without a weapon, might I add) from a different fighting game, an overrated comic book character, or the star of THE LEGEND OF ZELDA? Do you really even need to consider which of them is better?

The game sells itself!
A game selling itself? What a novel concept! In any case, that's exactly what I figured would happen (either that or the PS2 version selling better due to larger installed user base thingy) and what I found out for myself when I find that the GCN copy is constantly rented out at the local Blockbuster as well as recieved the most pre-orders.

And by the way, Heihachiwachisomethingorother does TOO have a weapon, two in fact, his fisticuffs!
Wow, the GC version selling best? Amazing... :)
This begs the question: Should Nintendo make a Legend of Zelda fighting game?
Yes! Before SSB or Soul Blade came out I thought up a cool 3D Zelda fighter and submitted it to a "think up a cool game idea" contest from the Official UK Nintendo Magazine.
It would be the coolest thing ever! Spaceworld 2000 demo, anyone?!
Yeah, that would be really, really cool...
As long as it was good.

I would strongly doubt it'd be able to match the might of games like VF4:E. But a nice fun novelty. :)
They already have that, it's called Soul Calibur 2! Sure, it's only got one Zelda character, but aside from Ganon who else ya gonna include? Maybe Sheik, maybe Link's shadow (kinda pointless as it would be like an alternate costume for Link) but no one else unless you throw in non-important characters like the enemies. Nah, Link's appearence in this game is plenty of Zelda fighting for me. He's got all the trademark moves, like the upward and downward thrust, the spin attack, the bombs, the arrows, the boomerang, the pegasus dash, and I think more from actual games of his. He's simply awesome. Aside from them being lazy on the alternate costumes (nothing more than a pallette swap whereas other characters like Spawn get a whole makeover, when they could have had something like one where he looks like Oni Link in Majora's Mask (with the 2p alternate sword being that double helix thing), or being just a tad lazy with his shields (only a few of his weapons have their own shield, one made up (there's no magic shield, at least not one that looks like the one paired up with the magical sword from Zelda 1), mainly I wish that instead of saying it's the blade's fault the hylian shield lost it's defense on a lot of them, just include an alternate shield for him, we all know the Zelda series has just about a metric billion of them, and the Fairy Sword could have had some made up Fairy Shield, rainbow colored with a large black rose etched in the front just like the scheme of the sword). Anyway, aside from those issues, purely cosmetic of course, he's perfectly represented as a fighter here. Plus, he just about killed the australian weapons salesman when he suggested his sword wouldn't do.
Oh come on, there are all kinds of characters you could include... what's wrong with badguys? Ones like Moblins, Wizrobes, Lizardmen, etc, etc...
Why not just put them in SSB?

I think the one genre Nintendo needs most is RPG's... and they should all be remakes or side stories of Chrono Trigger. *hopes*
SSB... hmm, no, we're thinking more of a more traditional 3d weapons-based fighter, not SSB...
Lizardman is already in Soul Calibur though :D.

Baddies just aren't all that important. I'd rather just see a real Zelda game anyway, unless they managed to make a puzzle based fighting game :D.
I mean the Lizardman from OoT... :)
