Aw crap. It sure as hell better not be this:

Quote:Japanese rag Dengeki GC promised a few months ago that a mystery Game Boy Advance title would sell "a million for sure; maybe even two" in Japan before the year's close.

With the recent announcement of Square Enix's Slime Mori Mori Dragon Quest: Shougeki no Shippodan, many people thought the mystery game had been revealed. Perhaps not.

According to that clever fox over at Video-fenky, another Japanese magazine, Shougaku Gonensei, has listed Pokémon Red + Green as "Coming Soon." Shougaku Gonensei is a magazine aimed at grade-school children. Presumably, the game will contain both of the original Pokémon games (which were released here as Red and Blue versions) on one cartridge for the Game Boy Advance. With updated graphics and new features, including, perhaps, the ability to get even closer to the 386 monster total in Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire, Pokémon Red + Green has the potential to be a massive hit - a massive two million-selling hit.

Fennek says that new information should be revealed in next month's Shougaku Gonensei, if it turns out to be true. Currently, Pokémon Red + Green has not been confirmed by Nintendo.

You know it will be... :(

YES!!!! ANOTHER nearly identical Pokemon game (port, new game... same thing, they barely change...)! Just what we needed...
Uh...we're supposed to be excited about this?
Boy, talk about dissapointment after dissapointment with Nintendo lately...
I wasn't really expecting anything, so I wasn't especially dissapointed... but these days it seems 'don't expect much' should be the norm. :(
Don't expect much. Either it turns out that you were correct, or you're pleasantly surprised.

:)
Wow! you guys made this game up by yourselves?? I wanna try!

Okay... here goes...

Now the tens of millions of Pokemon fans will be disappointed. :(

And all Nintendo's going to do is give them what they want and make a huge profit. :(

And they didn't even have to spend any time with R&D. :(

And based on that projected 2 million, Nintendo might think of releasing more Gameboy games as updated GBA games. :(

Like Metroid 2. :(

The Castlevania GB Series. :(

And Megaman. :(

And since they're making all the Pokemon fans happy, to appease the younger markets and keep share in that demographic, they might start catering to the older markets. :(

Like they're doing now. :(

Stupid Nintendo! :(

Always making money with incredibly well designed business structures and making its biggest fans happy! :(

Screw them! :(

Weehehehe! This is fun!

Oh wait, I mean - This sucks! :(

:D:D:D:D:D

Moral: Nintendo creates many different games of many different genres, some of them are extremely popular with younger crowds. And because we're adults, we hold very little interest in those projects. However, since those games are geared towards the younger crowds in the first place, our opinion MEANS NOTHING AND FUCKING JACK OFFS WHO GET HARD ONS HOPING FOR NINTENDO TO SUCK THEIR COCK BECAUSE THEY SPENT 200 BUCKS ON A SYSTEM NEED TO WAKE THE FUCK UP. wee!
Umm...I still want a Pokemon RPG on the GC.

0B1

Exactly. And that's why Nintendo will ultimately fail.
Nintendo is going to fail because you are a retarded troll? I don't really see how the two connect, but I'm sure you in your infinte wisdom must be right.

0B1

Your damn right!

Except for the part about the troll, because i'm always busy. ALWAYS busy! Because I have THOUSANDS of IMPORTANT things to do other than TYPE a fucking REPLY to your RETARDED QUESTIONS! My life is far more interesting! I AM FAR MORE INTERESTING IF SOMEONE were to ASK YOU who's MORE IMPORTANT than YOU, YOU would say ME. YOU WOULD SAY OB1; the MOST important MAN you have ever met on a message board (or in real life on my terms).
There's a 0 in your name for a reason. I don't really know exactly what that reason is but I think it involves Pat Buchanon, Martians from Jupiter, and a toaster that only browns bread on side because someone stuck a fork in it.
Don't worry kids, I removed the troll. It's very sad that lazy had to resort to that to try to hurt my feelings.
I love it how lazy blindly defends anything Nintendo does without giving it a second thought.

The man who preached about how he'd rather see Nintendo die making great games no matter how they sell is now telling us that it's great how instead of making cool, new, original games, Nintendo is just milking the Pokemon franchise to the point that would make Trip Hawkins proud.

Instead of giving us one--just one--Pokemon RPG for the Gamecube (or the N64, back in the day), the system that actually needs a boost in sales (unlike the GBA which continues to sell like crack), we get crappy side games like Pokemon TV manager and Pokemon Stadium.

I'm sure this remake will sell incredibly well, but is that really what you want them to do? Are there not enough Pokemon games available for the Gameboy systems?? First you say that you don't give a damn how well Nintendo's games sell but now you're defending their laziness.
Honestly... this is such a moronic marketing thing. I mean... whoopie, it'll include the three versions of Pokemon Original in one box... yay? Why exactly should anyone care? Doesn't ... like, everyone ... already own it? They'll buy it again, of course, and its probably dirt cheap to make, and will sell millions... so I see why they made it. But its still idiotic.
It wasn't to hurt your "feelings", OB1. I just wanted to pretend to be you for a day and see how many people I can piss off. Ironically, I pissed off the person I was pretending to be the most.

I was actually arguing your very same point: That we should worry about Nintendo's business and sales figures. That Nintendo, as a games developer or hardware manufacturer might crumble. We all know why Sony is number one and Nintendo is following suit and showing larger profits. That's what you want.

As history has shown, Nintendo cant retake the market based on good games alone. That's why I could give two shits and half a fart about who's number one - it's all just marketing. Even when Nintendo was number one, it was marketing that got them there. All I care about is the games I get to play.

Sorry for hurting your feelings.
I'm sorry to dissapoint you but you neither hurt my feelings nor pissed me off. I've delt with far worse trolls before.

Now you're just contradicting yourself. When I said that I think it's important for Nintendo to do well business-wise, you said that it doesn't matter as long as they make games that you like. Then I said that if they don't do well then they won't be around to make anymore games, and you went off on one of your rants about penises since you knew that I was right. So now you've changed your tune but still miss the point.

I want Nintendo to do well, but not if it means them making crappy games. There has to be a balance.
Come on, Nintendo. Just one 3D Pokemon RPG on the GC. That's all we're asking for. It wouldn't be that hard to make and it would sell 500 million copies.
Okay, it'd help sales... but I think it'd be impossible to make a good Pokemon game. If they make an RPG why not a GOOD one like Earthbound or Mario RPG...
The Pokemon RPGs are good, it's just that there are already so many people here just don't really care unless they do something big with it. Like a Pokemon RPG on the GC.

Am I mistaken or are you angry that I apologized? I'm glad I didn't piss you off or hurt your feelings, since as I said, it wasn't my intention. And how is it that i'm a troll now?

Actually, what I remember you saying is that business is more important than the games. To put a finer point on it, you had said that Nintendo needs to borrow from Sony's ideals in marketing and planning, which would kill off of what I consider to be the best aspects of Nintendo. To that I replied that I would rather see Nintendo go down in flames but still producing the best games. Then I came to this thread and saw that you were again disappointed in Nintendo's planning with the rumor of a Pokemon game which for business, would cost very little and have a huge return in profits. I was trying to show you that you're getting exactly what you want - Good business strategies. What I was trying to gather by making that post is why you're contradicting yourself in saying that the idea of better business is disappointing to you as a fan.

Now you mention balance in good business behind the scenes and games that make Nintendo's core audiences happy. Which Nintendo will do with a Pokemon remake. You and I are not a part of Nintendo's demographic for Pokemon games. You and I get T and M rated games, not remakes of kid-orientated RPG's, that's for the millions of kids who are Nintendo's largest demographic world-wide, on a system with the largest user base world-wide. Do you understand now?

Did that sound like anger to you? Confused

A troll is someone who comes to a message board for the sole reason of starting up trouble, and that is what you did as "0B1".

That's not how it happened at all. I have been very consistent with my opinion on Nintendo's current state. I was criticizing Nintendo for their very poor business decisions and for some of the choices they've made with games recently. When I said that I wanted Nintendo to be more like Sony I was purely talking about marketing and public relations. Saying that Nintendo wouldn't be Nintendo if they spent more money on advertising is utterly ridiculous. Believe it or not, the marketing department of Nintendo is separate from the R&D departments. I've also criticized Nintendo for being far less innovative with their games lately, and for completely ignoring online gaming. In 2001 Nintendo said that 2002 would be the year of the sequels since they would be able to release the updates to franchises that everybody wanted and would be able to release more games that way. Then in 2002 they said that 2003 would be the year of innovation, not sequels. "The Nintendo Difference", as it was called. "We're not going to be like everyone else, we're going to release original and innovative games!". Well 2003 is almost at a close and what have we gotten from Nintendo? ONLY sequels. Now I've been enjoying these sequels more than anyone else here, but this is completely going against what Nintendo promised and as the sales have pointed out, this is not a tactic that is helping Nintendo. Mario and Zelda aren't the huge sellers that they used to be. People need their new, original titles from Nintendo. They're sick of the usual franchises and they're hungry for something new.

And with all of this milking of the Pokemon franchise it seems as though Nintendo does not care for originality anymore. Yes, yes, releasing a dozen Pokemon games a year is sure to make them lots of money, but is that what you want to see from them? This is far worse than anything Sony has done in recent years. At least Sony tried innovation with such amazing games like "ICO" and "The Mark of Kri". Nintendo should be doing that, not Sony!
